Unhappy Engine Light On

Can some on tell me why the Engine warning light would come on in my ST170 ,nothing seems wrong at all and car still performs well : ,when I looked in the manual all it says is drive easy and take the car to your local Ford Dealer.. :
It's only got 23,000 on it and is not due for a service till 30,000 :

Mine has come on heaps of times and Ford said it was the O2 sensor been faulty and they replaced it. It came on again and they found out it was the Cat-convertor that was stuffed. But take it to Ford and they should find out what the problem is

Yep your best and safest option is Ford Dealer. Sometimes it's not evident, but it's not exactly the nicest light to have glaring at you!!

pay attention to that little light, better to get it looked at than have something blow up in your face further down the road only to have to tell the guys at Ford: "yeah that little engine light has been on for a while now but I ignored it!"
