Like the thread title suggests, I'm looking at getting some new rims for my series II AU XR8 and want to go BIG.
How big is too big and how big can you go beofre having to roll guards and the like? Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers, Marcus. |

Depends on if ur planning or already have lowered the car. Personally I wouldnt go any bigger than 18s.

Sorry, I should have been more specific.. My bad.
I can't really lower much otherwise I won't get into my driveway. I was thinking 18 or 19 inch. 20 is a bit too big in my opinion. Would I have problems with 19 x 8's or even 8.5's? I dont want to worry about scrubbing the tyres out in full-lock or anything, which is what I'm mainly concerned with. |

Either 18s or 19s, up to about 8.5" wide (though 8 is safer) should be fine. 9" wide on the back will fit no worries too.

Yes it would I think 8.5 front & 9.5 rear is as wide as you'd want to go with the right offset & 18 or 19 tall.

Just beware of the legalities of 9.5" wheels, since most state motoring bodies only allow a 25mm increase over the maximum rim width for that car, which was 8".

20s are fine to fit
just need 30 profile on the front rims but 35 profile can go on the rear

Does anyone have any pics of 9, 9.5 or 10 inch rims (265+ tyres) on the rear of an AU. I'm toying with the idea of fitting different rim sizes front to rear but am having a hard time imagining what they'd look like.

I've got 8s on the front of the wagon with 235s, and 9s on the back with 265s.
