if you did get to talk to him you could offer to get a few cans of fish oil and put in the panels for him to help preserve it.

I'm surprised it hasn't been stolen, lesser cars have been nicked from locked and alarmed garages, this just has some chicken wire and probably an old dog to protect it

No real value if it gets stolen

Its parts are pretty much cactus

Plates are worthless

Would make more money stealing an AU XR8

I was thinking about the old guy near Gatton & how he went with the floods recently - hopefully all ok. He is the 1'st & only owner of an red XA GT Coupe. He got married in it & it was used as the famlies only transport for many years. The car is now retired to the shed where it has been for 15 or more years. I've asked he a couple of times about purchasing it - he knows its worth. He was saying that he would like to fix it up & start driving again. One of his mates up around the corner has a Phase 3 sitting in a shed also, he purchased either new or near new.

I posted this in the barn finds section early last year. However I haven't seen the car for a while, so maybe there has been a changing of the guard. Nice old guy.

Don't know if this is true, but I had heard that it was an RPO83, & even though not interested in selling, he had a list of people's names that stopped by who was interested in buying, bloke I bought my XY from said this, & he was number 73 on the alleged list.

I can understand where this guy is coming from. I have a rust free XB GT sitting unloved in a shed at the back of a country property. I've given up trying to sell it as every time I do I get nothing but dreamers, tossers, and time wasters. They talk like they have dollars but in the end just waste my time living out some stupid fantasy. The GT has been sitting there for 10 years now. I'm always saying I'm going to move it in case of a fire, or sell it but got sick of driving 3hrs to show a car when "buyers" are just after a drive in the country and a perv even when they do actually show up.

I suspose it all depend's on the condition of your XB GT and your asking price, I mean's it's ok for you to say that your sick of time waster's and driving 3 hr's to show someone your GT, but obviously they are driving that distance aswell ? and maybe they are in the other posistion and think that you wasted their time with your price in mind ?,
I mean no disrespect to you but I know if I was to travel a certain distance to look at a vehicle that has been sitting in a shed/padock for 10 yr's I would want an honest description and price in mind before I even travel.
As there are owner's out there that have rust bucket's but expect top dollar for them just because they have seen them sell on Australian Muscle car's or such for x amount.
I find it hard to believe that any GT wouldn't sell these day's given the right price according to the condition of said car.

Nope, not a rust bucket but you be the judge from the below pics. Price has been as low as $6000 in 2007 and I still got tossers just there for a look. I had my time wasted enough for me to pull it from the market and not bother. I've spoken with three potential buyers since who have contacted me, even a member of this forum. All stuffed me around. So this GT will probably just sit in the shed for the next 20-30 years until I get time to restore and drive it. I guess in 20 years or so even a dirty old XB GT sedan will be a pretty rare and cool sight. Its a real GT too. Manual small port with original books.

Pics are from before it went into a shed 10yrs ago. Still in the same condition.

This is close to the mark as I understand with the the list. You'd have more luck buying a lotto ticket.

A mate looked at this a few years ago, not really to buy but to compare notes with it's sister car. From what I remember him saying about it was, the condition wasn't to bad for the time it's been sitting.

So I heard sadly, the old fella who owned this car has passed away. Last time I drove past, The Hardtop was gone.. Anyone know what's happening with it? Was it sold? Is it being restored?

He's dead, why should the family keep it?

If the old bloke loved the car he would have looked after it.

I'm sure he won't complain

But what's the alternative? Letting it rust to the point of no return?

its there already. anyone buying this car and going through a resto needs to have a stash of lotsa parts, lotsa money (150k depending on skillset). then keep a large portfolio of the process as a new buyer would want to see

I think it’s disgraceful that people are allowed to do what they like on their own property, with their own possessions. Surely we can have a new law to stop this? Not to mention the now-dispossessed chickens.
