Default Hamo's AU6 ET:14.63

Do to personal reasons Hamo Couldn't Race his car last night at Calder so Rod and I took it for out him...
Done just 2 passes after the 1st pass having a problem, we let the car cool for 2 hours.
Then the 2nd last car to go down the strip was the AU couldn’t believe it
ET:14.63@96.05 MPH, Rod done it again he loves these Auto's 2.18 on the 60 foot is very good for a N/A auto 6 cylinder...
For all there work and R&D getting Hamo's car to where it is, it’s been very hard with the auto trans and computer really limiting to what we could do tried a few combo's...
Thanks to the G&D Performance, Glenn, Matt and Paul great tune mate..
all you guy's are tops...
Rod your a freak, the fastest N/A 290 auto, N/A 260 auto and now the fastest N/A i6 auto.

Good work guys, what's the mods on the I6? I have a soft(hard) spot for the Falcon six. Can Rod actually drive a manual?

Rod doesn't actually even speak english, and his eyes only open when there is a xmas tree in front of them, lol

Congrats to the HAMO team, been a long road for these guys and i know from experience they are not scared of trying anything, which is what produces the numbers.

Thats a fantastic time for an auto I6, great work guys. Shows that with enough effort they can run up there with the best of them.

Absolutely great effort 14.63 from an Auto AU.

I know just how hard it is to get the AU Auto's to go well on the quarter as I have been trying hard and have only managed to get down from 16.8 to 15.6 so far. And 16.8 was the BEST time I got with the original car stock!

It gives me some hope I may get to a flat 15 at least with a lower diiff ( higher ratio) and a unichip too.

I am rapt my car went 14.6, I always knew it had more in it, I just couldn’t put it down on the track.
Many thanks to G&D Performance for there support on my little AU6, there enthusiasm is just as high for my 14 sec car as any other car they work on.
So I would recommend G&D Performance to anyone that likes there car worked on with passion.
I don’t know what specs are in the car now, so you need ask Glenn or Matt if you want to know, I don’t even know the RWKW.
Paul great tune car drives nice.
Rod Clarke your interest in my car, the help you gave to me all I can do is say thankyou and your going to have to teach me how to launch the AU of the line.
My brother Mark (xrfpv8) your no: 1 in the brother book, helps me with everything.
Many others that have helped at some stage with my car, APS, Air flow dynamics, Chris, all the boys at Market Place Auto’s..
Until we see an AU edit I think this is the best out of my car we are going to get.
Its time for me to take charge of my brothers Ute.
Here is the time slip.

Well done guys dont mind seeing power extracted from a six as it can be very challenging as l have done in the past.

Rod looks like you are OFR #1 interchange driver Well done on the launch

Hamo it's time now for you to get the launches down pat and the only way you are going to do that is practice and more practice someone can always tell you how to launch a car but when comes time to something gets lost in the translation.

GOOD LUCK

Cheers Chris

This is exactly what i wanted to see. Very deserving of this time mate. I had lost all hope in my auto 6cyl but this has renewed my faith. 96mph is what looks really impressive, its genuinly making power!!! Again well done, makes my 15.4@90mph look pathetic.

nah Walkinshaw you're doing OK.

Hamo's just going great.

There are a lot more Auto i6's out there running down the strip who don't even post up the times they're that bad. I know I was one of them. You didn't see me posting up my 16.8 did you?

Dont lose hope, it does get you down sometimes one good pass changes all that...the Cam G&D put in 3 weeks ago puts out 10kw less, but the car runs much better, small Cams with the Auto's work much better i6.

Well done to Hamo, Rod and mark....you guys have showed alot of patience and determination to get that car well below a 15 for an I6. The car has had the power for ages and it was a matter of getting it to get it to the ground effectively, and the hard work has paid off

Chalk in another PB for OFR!

We got a Crow cam for the AU, the grind was big, and with a manual it would have had wings. .lol..
That Cam got send back to Crow and they re-ground the Cam to a new lower spec for $100.. Which is better than buying a new one and then try selling the old one..
By using the smaller Cam, this gave more piston to valve clearance which was a problem with the 1st Cam, because G&D Performance took the time to dial it in on the Dyno to see at what degree it would make it's best power...

CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCcompression mark, compression!!

The OFR engine builders creed,

camshaft, compression, computer.

Thats the other thing that is the problem with the 6's. In stock form it may have OK compresson but as soon as you cam the car up it looses dynamic compression, so i think Chris has braught up a very good point, compression. 9.3:1 is a bit soft really, get the head decked and some work done and 10.3:1 might liven these cars up.

Mark, if you were having piston to valve clearence problems the cam you had must have had huge lift or it was advance a hell of alot to try and pick up some bottom end.

The 1st one they gave us was wrong 233@50 it was a monster, had a big thud sound through the exhaust, but to big its a race Cam.
The next was 220@50 still to big for an Auto only because you cant get it enough down low throttle into it….in a manual it would have been a rip snorter...this cam went 97mph..
The head had been decked even the valves were recessed and shortened; to help with the clearance, I think they are stainless steel valves, it was done by AIRFLOW DYNAMICS..
One day I would love to see that cam go back in with that head and a 5 speed manual..
we were close to going that way, but Hamo just moved into his own home 3 weeks ago, so funds are in short supply for a while..
