Waste of friggin time ...... I told the bloke I wanted the car and was coming down with cash ..... at almost 10am I am 2/3 of the way there and this drop kick of a car yard phones me up to say someone else has put a deposit down on the car! I was p!ssed! So basically spent the rest of the day cruising the car yards from Moorabbin to Frankston. Came across one really nice AU3 XR8 with the 220 banger ..... mmmm .... very nice and low Km's ... with a big ticket price. The Car is at the Melbourne Car Supermarket ...... at Hilton's ..... I understand the name now .... high dollar hotel and high dollar car yard. Car has around 90K on it .... is Naroom Blue I believe and had Leather interior. Asking Price ... $20k Just a bit above my budget at this time ...... so now looking at an NL Fairlane, 5ltr ..... lots of work done and set up for towing a race car .... so should suit my needs with towing the XA to car shows'n'stuff. Will see how this one pans out.

I scored this one for $13,500 .......... has NO mods and is as per factory (sorry, other than dark window tint) .... auto ... white .... has new exhaust (complete to extractors) ........ is getting a towbar tomorrow, as I need it .... plans for headlight protectors, floor mats, body kit down the track once I am working again and also keen for a BA Boss bonnet, since they make them for the AU also now ..... It doesn't have an engine cover, so I will also bee looking for one of them as I think it just makes everything that much more better looking. Oh, it does have the dash mat ... lol.

Has the tickford mags and near new tyres and may be interested in lowering it at a later stage ...... will see how it comes together over the next 6 months or so.

Car was $15k drive away ..... but I played hard ball and got a win. :

Nice work!!!

A fellow in the club has a white AU XR8 that has a bonnet bulge - nothing too big- just enough to make you notice and it sits in well.....

might give you a buzz thisarvo on my way through Shep. Am off back up to the Sunny Coast (where it is warm, lmao) as I have to organise for my ute to get down here : .... have a mate that is going to put it on his truck ... at mates rates .... ;) I just need to get it to his yard in Brisvegas.

I have also purchased a 250cc motorbike ..... as a run around on the days where it ain't so cold .... haha! : It is in Newcastle and am grabbing it on the way.

Should be cruising through your way around 5.00pm or there abouts.

Thanks BLKPhoon, we really like Bendigo ... so far it is a fantatic place to be. Didn't think much of Melbourne on Saturday when we went down there .... picked the worst day of the year to try to drive home past the MCG at the end of the Grand Final ... lmfao!!!

Here is a pic of what I used to have in my sheds (yes, I had 2 sheds) back in Qld some 4 years ago.

top to bottom ... 1972 XA Futura (country pack, option 20), 1974 XB GT Falcon (Full option pack), 1977 XC Falcon 500 ute, 1979 XD 351 Fairmont.

as you can see, I am a massive Holden fan .... NOT !!!!! Fords all the way ;)

OK, well I am back from my Newcastle / SunshineCoast trip .... the XR8 was awesome on fuel .... had really good milage and was stoked .... only real issue was that the map lights didn't want to work ... other than that .... very happy.

As you do, I was checking out the Owners Manual and in the back .... original purchaser .... Victoria Police ..... lmao!

I found that the cold air intake was missing, so purchased one from ebay .... just waiting for it to arrive. Also bought clear side indicator markers ... the orange ones just don't look right ....

Next is the chrome Altezza tail lights and a brake upgrade, for the front only to start with as the rears are brand new ... discs and pads.

So I wonder if it's a stockie......

Good to hear it went well... on country trips our AU111 XR8 Ute gets about 800kms to the tank- very good indeed.... and it's funny to watch the DTE grow petrol....

when I first collected the car, the DTE on afull tank was just over 400 .... yeah, someone was heavy on the right foot ..... by the time I got to Calder Park, it was nudging 600, funny as.

As to whether or not it is a stockie ..... NFI ;)

I am not sure what they do to cop cars here, but in other states, I am aware that they generally change suspension, remove speed limiter and intorduce a performance chip. What happens here???

First mod completed ... the clear side markers are now on. :

More changes ..... first the AU ..... replaced the old boring tail lights with Alteza Style ones ....

& now the BA ..... Ann didn't like the old mags too much, so she got new ones for it ......

more changes are in the mail ... for the AU ;)

Slotted front discs are on their way as is a K&N air filter. Considering a couple of other items at the moment ...... including the TE50 style body kit .... 18's and lowering .... more dollars hey?!

When the BA comes due for pads and discs ... am going to go and get slotted and crossed drilled .... then the dust covers can go ... haha!

I would be one of those people ..... the car had aftermarkets on it when we purchased it .... but I am probably going to use the 18's that came off Ann's car on my AU and put my originals away for safe keeping ... lol.
