Hail protection system!

can't get your car under cover??

With the hail and storms the way they are these days, what are your methods of protection should LARGE hail stones develop??

i think laying towels across the car can protect against smallish hailstones. i think you're pretty much stuffed if large hail stones develop though! maybe use your neighbours towels too :P

since i dont have a shed (well i do but its full of shit) or carport, i try and get to the undercover carpark at target if i can. other than that im at the mercy of the weather.

I use a thick blanket and then the heavy duty car cover.

A thick bed cover will protect you from Hail as it will act as a pillow between the hail and your vehicle. My car is always in a shed at home and at work so im lucky!

I had just finished respraying my car when big hail was predicted. My solution was to lay some towels rolled up into logs across the roof and bonnet then lay a doonah or blanket over the top of my towels.. This creates a small airpocket to 'hopefully' slow ther hail down enough that it doesn't dint the car

Yup, as has been said - big thick towels and blankets.

But seeing as a i have a bigass carport with trees all around it, i dont think hail is gonna be a problem :evil_laug

i have some 2 inch thick foam rubber stuff in the garage that i use if its hailing

just put some blankets over the car, so the foam rubber doesnt scratch, then lay the foam over, then a car cover to hold it down.

last storm i had lent some of it to my dad and didnt have enough to cover it, so i just made sure the roof was protected...the rest of the panels are bolt ons so i figured that was the best of a bad situation!

Trees are coming down ATM too......there have been 2 deaths from falling trees just this week.

sit outside on the porch with a BB gun and shoot the hailstones just before they hit the car. that way, they become little hailstones and they dont hurt.

I thought that new fords BA onwards have baked hardened panels to combat hail and headcase shopper dent you with my doors because I dont care car parks.

I just use my full comprehensive insurance to fix any hail damage... Garage has to fit my bike, and the EL has seen more of the world than I have... so....

No problem here. Space for 22 cars undercover where i live.

If i was at work I'd bring the car into the factory (in reality I'd probably be to busy looking at the hailstones smash shit up)

Queen size blow up mattress under the car cover!, keeps a nice gap between the car and the cover as it’s pulled tight over the car, the rear wing holds the cover up from the back windscreen and the mattress covers the roof, front windscreen and bonnet!.

No insurance cover's againt's hail anymore.

What the????? We just had a huge hail storm where we are (as posted in my other thread) and insurance is covering hail damage to all the people I know who have full comprehensive insurance. The reason it didnt cover mine is coz it was only covered 3rd party.
