Falcon/Territory/ute platform did quite well with 2710 sales compared to the Commodore and ute sales of 3052. Considering how old the Falcon is, the Commodore isn't exactly setting the world on fire.

I am worried about Fiesta and Mondeo sales though.

Good numbers for Falcon and Territory considering the plant would have closed a few days short of the full month (when did it shutdown?)

Fiesta and Ranger WTF is going on Ford...

Correct, but they aren't alone. If you took local built stuff out of the picture, last months figures read this.

Fiesta, Focus and Ranger simple answer. Ford's marketing is woeful at best. WZ fiesta has been out for 7 weeks albeit in Ambiente and Trend models. Ecosport now nearly a month and no ads. All that's been is a couple of billboards and electronic marketing. Make a car sound exciting and it will sell!!!!!.

With exception of Ranger 4x4, oneFord crashing and burning while the locally produced Fords hold the side up compared to December last year. 39.4% of volume from production which will close in 2016. Those new imports better be good!

Wow, the only model that outsold the Falcon was the Ranger, and it wasn't by much.

I hope Ford pull their finger out by 2016.....

I partially agree. I think the concept is great and I know a lot of non-car people find it funny but my biggest issue with it is that it doesn't actually explain what "Active city stop" is.
I think many would be impressed you have radar guided auto brakes in a humble Focus but to anyone Active City Stop could be ABS brakes, or EBD. All they needed was a few seconds of computer generated imaging...

A great idea Ford, but they didn't follow through with it. *shakes head*

I still believe when Ford quit manufacturing in OZ we will see a rapid decline in Ford sales. Once the belief from Ford OZ has waned and we become a 'research only hub' watch the people walk. People are still buying Ford Ute, Territory and Falcon. Have a look Ford OZ the numbers don't lie!!
So it beggars the question what will those people buy going forward. My tip is nothing Ford related as there is nothing that suits their purpose. People generally buy cars because they are fit for purpose. I buy Falcon ute because it is a great car, I can load heaps in the back, drives like a sedan(disc brakes all round for me in 2014 thanks), easy access being low to the ground, heaps of grunt, great fuel economy and on and on I can go. A Ranger is not fit for purpose for me as it's mere size is way to large to fit in my garage so misses out on that mere fact. So I guess Ford will soon see whether this exercise in economics works. My guess is there will be much more pain to come for them when they retire Falcon, Falcon Ute, GT, GS and Territory. These are all tremendous vehicles but simple lack of will sees them relegated to history.

I cant believe so many people are buying the i20, that has to be the biggest selling POS on the roads.
Hyundai have certainly done well with boosting the image of the brand, although in the US it appears it is just a honeymoon, as they arent getting repeat buyers.

Falcon: A model that is very old, has low levels of technology & apparently no-one wants somehow still managed to out sell the Focus & Fiesta!! And the Falcon has a much higher selling price point too.

Seriously Ford, I hope you know what you are doing!!

Rental and Fleet, so 'people' are not actually choosing one as such.

Fair enough but Ford can't continue making a car for you and not many other people on the planet. Combine the monthly Falcon and Commodore ute sales (~800) and you've still got way less than what the Ranger or Colorado sells by themselves, let alone combining all of those utes (several thousand sales a month) which sell here and across the world.

In the end of the day, Ford are there to make money, as are we all.

I think ongoing serious problems with the dual clutch powershift automated transmissions in Focus and Fiesta is leading to word of mouth bad history stories.
Sales on these two are down down down.

And on the manual gearbox front with these two models for gods sale ford when are you going to make them available with a 6 speed manual.

Ford probably doesn't care if the total sales drop after falcon, as the imports profit margins won't be propping up the losses for local cars so the bottom line will probably be better, even though they're selling less.

Ford must stop Euro pricing their cars. People know they aren't Audi.BMW MB quality.they are good but not that good. Focus , Kuga And Mondeo Titanium are $5k overpriced.

I'm talking about the *new* Focus ad that has only started airing in the past week or so. Makes me want to gnaw my arm off.

Either way, the locals provided about 40% of Ford's market share last month. Just like the month before it. Now we find out that the new Mondeo, which is supposed to replace Falcon in part, won't be coming here until 2015.

Like I said earlier, WTF Ford...

Blah blah blah..

Focus Trend autos are like $20,600 drive away at the moment... Find me a better car for less money?? Mondeo Zetec Ecoboost for $28,990??? Same! Kuga trend Ecoboost AWD demos $34k...

Seriously it's not pricing, it's marketing and peoples lack in trust of Ford dealers that has busted the brand.

DASH GT..I only said the Titanium models..not the Ambiente or Trend models.
If the Focus Titanium was $29,990 drive away Instead of around $35k..Metro's have 2 at $32k drive away. and same goes for the Kuga and Mondeo Titanium models. Rockhampton Ford have Fiesta's for $13990 drive away. Lets have some good ads. Latest Focus ad !!! camaraderie ??!!?????
Toyota Corolla, VW Family ads are good ads..explain the car..? Doesn't Ford market research their ads ??? seen the UK Focus ads ?? never get on tv ,here....
Realistic pricing, with appropriate ads and lets see what happens...

There's a good chance that once ford aus is finally gone, and it's left up too FORD to brand and sell the cars....the budget should open up to match the funding for advertising to match other big brands. People forget.....ALL fords in Ustralia are advertised on a ford aus budjet.....which is zip atm?
Here's hoping anyway.
Amoung my non car enthusiast friends, ford is seen and commented on equally if not better then most brands. (Be interesting to see what other peoples non car enthusiast friends think) !!

the locally produced numbers that we are seeing for December, they aren't a true reflection. I wont details why but trust me. They are glorified sales.

Are you referring to Falcon and Territory for that matter, and why there are so many registered but not driven of the two mentioned for sale at dealer's at the moment, 2013 stock ???.

That's not right either. Was something else so unique, I haven't seen it happen before. I am done with this topic. lets just say, its unlikely focus will lose to falcon again.
