Well i went out yesterday to see how fast the old girl would go and then at 180 stopped climbing higher, yes i know its the restricer im just wondering if its possible to remove it lol, my friend has a VR auto commodore and he thinks his car is faster when i know its not!, i know my car could easily beat 195 (my friends top speed) and i reakon push for 210 but the restricter is breakin my balls =)

any tips greatly appreciated (and no im not a bloody idiot, i do this in a sealed closed road 5kms long =] )

This is all done on a private track of course? :alien2:

With the Auto's and I presume it's the same case as the manuals, it's to protect the alloy driveshaft. Any faster and they explode into a billion pieces. Not something you want to happen at 210k/hr.

Forget your mate, just another bloke in a 20yr old Commodore. Who cares if a car can go that fast, you can never do it on public roads.

You are a idiot, who cares bout closed open roads, u wanna prove your car is faster take it to the drags and do the quarter mile. That really proves whos faster, if u wanna go for top speed clearly u loose.

not all are speed limited, my car is Auii xr6 and it has gone 200 plus down the back straight of Queensland raceway, I have never had the limiter removed so can only assume that not all were limited, I have an alloy tail shaft. I might add that going those speeds on anything less than a purpose built race track with ambo's, helmets and safety personal if anything goes wrong is just plain stupid.

yep, as above. there was a thread on here about an e series fairmont i think, tailshaft let go on the dyno doing a high speed run with the limiter removed. from memory it didn't get much over 180 before it tore in half. took out the rear of the gearbox. just lucky it didn't fly out anywhere.

if you really want to do it, spend the money first and either get a 2 piece driveshaft like b series falcon utes have, or get a stronger single one made with a driveshaft loop so it can't fall onto the road as easily if it does let go.

then get the limiter removed and go nuts. on private property of course...

I'm pretty sure it's only the steel shafts that had the problem as my au1 has a steel shaft and is limited...

Closed road? Don't care .... sounds stupid and illegal. If it was on a private track, as in controlled conditions with the appropriate requirements for racing taken .....prove it and you can restart the thread. Just saying its a closed road doesn't cut it here ....
