this 'torque reduction" feature of the AU ECU is a bit of a worry isnt it? At what point does it start to interfere...160rwkw? 170???

Casper , when your car was dead stock , what kind of 0-100 times were you getting? Im to embarrassed to say mine.....they are really bad , infact im thinking its got a problem making low end power , because until it gets to 3500rpm it is VERY slow..........

Mine went from stuffed (dead MAP) to modified in the same day so I have no comparison. Cheahmans VCT is dead stock though and does 7.60 0-100 so thats as good a comparison as any I guess.
During the chip challenge I did anywhere from 7.55 to 7.8 seconds as the 0-100

It was. Just looked it up, dead MAP and stock was doing 0-100 in 8.5 seconds :(

It is there all the time, wether you are making 10rwkw or 1000rwkw

First you need to understand, is that the EEC is constantly calculating (approximating) the amount of torque your engine is producing.

There is a value in the EEC calibration for "desired" max torque. When the calculated torque exceeds the desired torque, the EEC cuts back ignition timing to reduce torque.

There are actually about a dozen different functions in the EEC for reducing power the engine is making using different methods e.g. cut ignition timing, cut off fuel injectors, and reduce commanded AFR. These include the infamous transmission torque truncation, catalytic converter (overheat) protection, and traction control...

Bring on AU Edit

This torque reduction sounds like a myth to me.It sounds like an excuse made to cover someones shoddy workmanship. It reminds me of battery companies "memory effect" which is the biggest malarchy I have ever heard of. Torque reduction would only occur in a dying gearbox or torque converter.

what is unknown is how agressive it is in auto's compared to manuals and I6 compared to V8's.

it exists and we have not only the Ford documentation to prove it, but the datalogging by Danny and Sylox to show just how much (in V8 autos at least).

i suppose the question relevant to this thread is how much time is it costing us from 0-100kph and 0-400m?

maybe some of the guys experienced with the BA Edit can give us an idea?

mine is a calculation based on the 1/8 ET and MPH. Its pretty accruate, certainly as accruate as a GTech.

I'll actually do a GTech test soon in full road trim to see what difference it makes.

calculator is here: http://www.tweak3d.net/videos/calcs/sixty.shtml

Its not a 100% accurate but without going to the expense of buying the right equipment, its a ballpark figure.

Philstoj - Just hit the accelerator and start counting:
one one thousand, two one thousand........seven one thousand. If you hit 100 and you haven't made it to eight one thousand, and you think you were closer to seven one thousand than to eight one thousand, then you have a sub 7.5 sec time, otherwise it's over 7.5 Just pick a time. (say 7.67 - sounds OK, doesn't it?).

Nah j/k. I use a G-Tech that is in km/h.

Not a probelm Niko, and not a bad time at all. Theres actually an E Series thread as will for 0-100 times you may be interested in. Its here and may give you a good idea based on other E Series times. Just remember, theres quite a few turbos in there too.

Did a few quick runs with the G-Tech now the Crane 2030 cam is fitted. Car AU series 1 XR8 auto with Crane 2030 cam, Crane Valvesprings, and YT 1.6:1 RR's (otherwise stock).

I didn't try too hard, just 3 runs, but it seems to like launching ~1800rpm, and shifting at 5500rpm. Times taken in full street trim with 3/4 tank fuel.
