Default Pulling Apart An AU Fairmont Cluster

Hey guys,

Can anyone tell me how to pull apart an AU Cluster. I have got it out, got the Front clear lense and black surround off. Now im just left with the white rear part of the cluster and the actual face in it. can these be separated, there were two screws on either side of the Odometer that i removed but it wont budge, Nothing seems to be connected to the rear white part (If you know what i mean) but it wont come out. Is there a special way to get it out.

Cheers

You have to remove the needles, and then the black background (which is lightly glued on). Behind it you will find screws to dismantle it further, if this is what you want to do.

Be careful removing the needles. Easy to break, and if you scratch the black background, the scratches will show at night.

Why are you wanting to diamantle it this far? Is there a problem or you just replacing the face/background?

And you have to be even more careful putting the needles back on. I've seen several that people have done themselves in which the oil guage(?) no longer reads the correct setting (if it in fact moves at all). Seen it happen to the temp and fuel guage as well and also the calibration of tacho and speedo needles is very hard to reset exactly. Be warned - remove the needles at your own peril

i removed my cluster myself to put a white dash in, i took my time removing the needles and putting them back together. i put a dot of whiteout on the needle and so i can put the needles back into the same position. my speedo was out even beforehand due to diff gears, but it all works just fine. But as said be very careful as u can break them very easily.
