That article is from today mid afternoon and it's going to auction this Saturday??

Why was there not more public knowledge of the car?

Wouldn't there be more interest if they dragged out the sale with online publicity like the chook coup one??

If it does fetch the estimated 500k, how much further investment potential could be gained in the future?

Impossible to answer. If the global economy collapsed it would be worth much less.

If it stabilises or picks up the buyers will have confidence and it will be worth more.

I'm hoping that the person that buys it will just appreciate it as a rare classic car. Any future gains are a nice bonus.

The brother has an XA Hardtop RPO83, which he restored over a number of years to original factory specs. Not sure what it’s worth, but someone did offer him a bucketful of money for it a little while ago.

but the xa/b/c falcon sedans never really appealed to me in their shape (didnt seam to dislike the waagooons) but much liked the shape of same said fairlanes
oh and the coupes
the coupes made the falcon shape look more stream line bullity to me where the falcon just looked dumpy in the middle with its rounded of bonnet n boot but i didnt see this in the fairlane they just looked tanky and cruzie compared to the falcon to me

You were not around in the 70s ?? Lots of combinations then you wouldn't see today. I had a copper bronze XA sedan with a parchment vinyl roof and my dad had an XA GT coupe in wild violet , loved that car, both had saddle interiors and that was certainly not uncommon then.

Nope not around then. But there were some truly horrid colour combinations that were popular then, which did not age well.

The Wild Violet would have been much better with the black trim. Or even white trim, which I have seen. Don't get vinyl roofs, but if so it would have looked much better black.

Remember the colours of the 70s well.
Purpull, Lettuce alone, Lone O Ranger, Vitaman C, Red Pepper, Pine N Lime and more.
All great colours, loved the Purpull XU1s.

wild violet continues to be a popular colour amongst enthusiasts. its not my cup of tea but each to their own. if the car is good i couldnt care if it was pink

I reckon it’s a great combo, white interior would be nicer but who cares. Can’t believe it doesn’t have a stereo or air vents. No air or steer. But it dies have the 4V heads still on it thank god.

yep, my Dad had the same colour bronze combo but coupe and saddle interior in Fairmont guise 302.
Loved it then I got it and drove like I stole it
Oh what you could do on the roads those days.
Imagine his next Falcon was another XA but 6 Fairmont - what was that light crimsum metallic colour called anyone ? I can't recall with WHITE vynal seats.
LOL what a combo that was !

My brother and I had a XB GT sedan Polar White with dark brown cloth interior. Very rare. It was fully optioned had every option ticked except quarter front windows(because it had air conditioning) and the vinyl roof.

This what I have been wondering more generally about Aussie cars, particularly the newer ones. They even gave the last Holden buyers options to basically put it on blocks hoping for a return.

These older cars are only worth something because they somehow survived which is contrast to new owners looking back and hoping to replicate the same thing to cash in.
