Default Creaking rear windscreen

Posting this in case others are suffering from the same problem, it has been driving me insane for a while now.

I had an annoying creak from somewhere in the back of the car when driving over anything short of a buttery smooth road. It was worst over small undulations that would try to "twist" the car slightly. It would go away in the rain or after washing the car, then gradually come back again.

I was convinced that it was the door seals, sunroof or something in the parcel shelf and spent ages messing around with door adjustment, silicon spray, silicon grease, cleaning seals etc. But none of that worked and I couldn't reproduce the noise by pushing/hitting on anything.

Because it went away after rain/washing, I decided to try selectively wetting parts of the car. It turned out to be coming from the rear windscreen rubber seal (actually more like a trim) on the outside of the car!

Googling windscreen creaks I found to my surprise that this was a common problem on VF commodores. Holden's fix was to apply silicon spray under the seals. So I did that and problem solved - I can enjoy driving the car again. Reports from the holden forums indicate that the silicon fix lasts, so hopefully mine does too.
