* total respray candy red and black gt strips
*some rubber to go on my tickford rims

You know, I hated AU's...when they came out myself, along with a lot of people who were died in the wool Ford guys, said "Oh christ, what were you thinking??". Horrible.

But disturbingly I've noticed that over the last couple of years I've seen ones like, for example, a gold coloured one in Rocky, lowered slightly, with those steel "interceptor" wheels, low profile tyres, a nice exhaust note and dark glass with NSW plates...and found myself thinking "That's a damn nice looking car"...

Does it take over a decade to appreciate them or something, because I hated them with a passion when they first came out and thought it was Fords biggest mistake ever...?

Given their prices now (I recall seeing a sedan sitting in a yard near our sons place in Rocky for $600) they might be a good project...

G'day guy's, 2011G6E- maybe you're a bit older & a bit wiser lol! A lot of people thought AU's were hideous when they first come out and a lot of those same people admit now that AU's have aged well. Its whats under the skin that counts as you know - AU's are the most underated car in OZ ever, period!

AU Gone Bad, good score mate! You can never have too many au's as long as you've got the room! Keep up the good work!

cheers,Maka

hi guys you may or not know me from my past posts

anyways as you all know i bought a au falcon ute for $900 from a bloke that fell asleep behind the wheel and she was preaty beaten up

in the last posts i showed the work carried out to get it back on the road
new bumper
new power stearing pump
new power stearing rack
new radiator
new thermo fans
new ball joints
new sway bar rubbers

$$$$$ spent anyhows thats all over and must i say she drives sweet thanks to many here

in the recent months ive bought me a 2000 au fairlane paid $500 for it yeah when i replaced the ecu because it had failed i saw 895.000 on the dial and went BUGGER ME !!!!!
umm i had one before that had 600.000 and it had stress cracks in the floor pans so as you can imagen i was like i ain't even going to try to put it on the road again its just a money pit

so in all my $900 ute has become an experiment au ute with a au fairlane front end i got all the panels put on and started on the wiring today and this is where it went wrong

fairlane wiring plug which i removed
2 green with two orange strips one high beam one low beam i asume

3 black wires all earth one to each bulb

1 brown parker bulb wire

1 green with blue wire which goes to blinker

1 red and black strip wire which goes to main low beem

ok this is where it goes really wrong

the head light side only has one green with a orange wire so i am down one wire to start with
the other high beam wire is blue which really confuses me

so when i flick to high beem the damn main low beam goes out any ideas guys what on earth am i doing wrong lol don't make me look like a idiot but guys i really am frying my brain

anyways here is a few pictures of the work so far

hey interceptor glad to see ya like what i am doing with the old girl since we spoke last shes got a 140k fresh ish motor under the hood and may i say shes got a hell alot more grunt for her buck

thinking about a 5 speed soon the ideas we come up with lol
anyways i scratched and banged my hands and after alot of swearing and telling god all about my wiring problem it seems i was a total idiot

aparntly the fairlane has a 6 pin relay on the main lights
the standerd falcon only has 5 and what ya know the cause of my problem

first thought was oh crap i bet the harness is differant under the fuse tray aparntly its not

just getting lights on now and a few odds and ends even adding a third horn sould make those suckers move !!!!! once thats all done i plan to paint the old girl so any ideas on colours are most welcome guys will be posting a few pics soon so hang around

and cheers guys many thanks
