Default Lexus IS-F sports sedan

400bhp 5.0 litre V8 engine in an IS bodyshell – targeting the Audi RS4, Mercedes C55 and BMW M3 market.

http://www.fdivision.org/forums/showthread.php?t=18

Mightn’t look the best but it’s interesting that Toyota are getting in to the smallish sports sedan market (and that everyone seems to be going V8 in it these days). They had 4.0 V8 prototypes of the old (straight 6) IS series Lexus years ago.

will also be interesting to see how Lexus calibrate the traction/stability control (it’s meant to screw up the 450h sedan).

That is quite a menacing looking front with that bulge, I like the exhaust as well, this is the sort of car you wouldn't really need to do much apart from drive it and enjoy.

Yep, I agree. Something about the bonnet especially doesn't quite look right.

You sure? The others are transverse FWD while the IS is an in-line RWD isn't it.

Definitely promising but I would still like to see an old fashioned manual option as well!

I give thanks they didn't try and use a hybrid drivetrain like everything else they are doing now, and then force it onto the world as a "genuine sports car".

The stock IS350 has just recorded 0-60 mph 4.9 sec. very quick car without turbos hanging off it. 306 SAE bhp 330 AUSTRALIAN BHP
The IS-F talking late 3sec to 4.1 with the 8 speed gearbox.
400PLUS BHP COULD BE 450BHP

that looks retarded.

like the design team had a bunch of curves that they wanted to use, and just put them all on the same car.

the interior is great though.

Nice car.... it's in this weeks GoAuto Emag, claims to do 0-100 in less than 4.9 secs. I like the interior and the wheels are hot. It'll be interesting to hear about the 8-speed gearbox.

But one question: Why do a lot of cars of late have the numbers on the speedo/tacho running around in a circle rather than having them sitting horizontally??? Ford/FPV, Golf, VE SS, and now Lexus.

The IS250 is on a different platform to the Camry/Aurion. Much smaller car, different suspension systems. The Camry has a McPherson strut rear, the IS uses a multi link system.

Saying it's on the platform is like saying the Falcon is built on a Focus platform with RWD, it's just plain incorrect.

What the hell is "Australian BHP?"

Far as I know there's proper SAE BHP, PS (Pfederstarke) the German bastardized version where 0.986bhp = 1ps and the weirdo French CV thing which reads even higher numbers.

306 SAE BHP = 228kW.

The IS250 is a V6 rear wheel drive sedan. Some markets get a 3.0L V6 instead like here in Brunei; something to do with the quality of the petrol available.

19" wheels standard and comes with 6 piston Brembos. The downside is the ridiculas brake vents in the rear of the front quarter guard.

Nice interior. Dont like the colour, a retrim in black would look horn!

A retrim in black would look cheap, boring and very bland that why you Buy Aurion the cheaper version of Lexus.

This is the kind of car I think Holden/Ford should be making.

Small, rear-drive sporty sedans.

Think RWD Mondeo with 2.0L diesel, 3.0 V6 and 5.0L V8. Or turbo petrol four cylinder.
Priced right, would sell like hotcakes! We used to have these kind of cars, the Torana, Escort, Cortina etc.
I think a diesel model would sell extremely well - brilliant fuel-consumption and RWD driving dynamics to make up for the lack of pep you get with a petrol engine. I'd buy one.

It is hardly a new thing, my XB has the Speedo and Tacho Numbers going around like that.

The new Supra is suppose to have the 5 litre V8 also in 2008. An updated version of the 1/2/3UZFE series.
