Depends what you want to do. Under the chassis rails or under the K frame if you can lift the car high enough

Alrighty, And I guess I should use those points and the rear axle to jack it up. My scissor jack was USELESS jacking the car up. Apart from busting my nuts cranking it and bending the U-joint on the thing, it still wasn't high enough to put an axle stand on the rear even at it's lowest form.

Plus, I bent one of my jack points using my mates trolley jack! Darn weak metal crap!

Time to go by my own trolley jack... (sooo effort-LESS)

Don’t use a trolley jack on the normal scissor jack points, as you found out the sheetmetal flange will not support the weight. (If you had a block of wood with a slot cut in it to mimic the head of the scissor jack and push on the metal beside the flange it would work)

For a trolley jack or axle stands, use the chassis rails or the crossmember at the front, they are a bit further inboard from the normal jacking point. At the rear, place the trolley jack under the diff centre, and axle stands under the axle towards the outsides, making sure you don’t squash anything (handbrake cable etc). Use a bit of rag (a couple of thicknesses) to protect from scratches (scratches could expose bare metal = bad, so worth taking a simple precaution to prevent)

I wouldnt be jacking up just one corner either, you'll twist the chassis/body of the car. Its not unheard of for windows to crack in such situations.

What those last 2 clever gents said.

Also, when buying your trolley jack remember bigger is better!
You don't want something made for a Jap/Korean micro car under your Falcon and each succesive model isn't getting any lighter.

In allot of cases we dont have the luxury of jacking the car up square (middle of diff or crossmember) by using a large jack. A cheep-o 1800kg jack doesnt fit under my front or back bumper, or my side rails to reach a decent jacking point, subsiquently jacking the car up on one side is nessacary to puerly get the jack under a point to which the car can be jacked square.

Driving the front or back wheels up and onto a block of wood is often the only way to get a square jacking point or get a trolly jack under the side of the car.

You could buy some ramps and drive the car onto them? Very easy, and effortless..

haha...
don't try and get a lowered car on ramps..
or even a stock car for that matter.

we lost the bumper of that Wrecked EF Ghia i had on the ramps and it was stock ride height.

I didn't even think of that. Wood blocks would be very useful for extra low cars. Cheers Walkin!

I couldnt get my old EA with stock height on a set of ramps due to the front bumper, had to make an additional ramp with timber to go up the ramp at a less of an angle.

They've been making the same style ramps for 30 years, they really need to update them for newer cars.

Ive got some bigass pavers I drive it onto to gain a bit of height.
They're about an inch thick and two of them each side seems to work well.

go to supercheap (if they're still for sale), I picked one up for $20 at one of their sales and it seems to do the job... just wouldnt trust it to support the car or anything of that nature. But as they say, you get what you pay for.

I wouldnt use a Supercheap $20 jack to raise the Gemini, letalone a Falcon.
The ones that were recalled was their top of the line 'heavy duty' ones which were way overrated in its maximum weight limit.

Got one from Burson Automotive the other day. got home and it had rust, looked dinted and used, and resprayed! Definately got a refund on that peice of trash!
