Maybe we could import UK made cars (made with Chinese or Indian parts) instead of Korean cars made with Chinese parts.
How are we better off?
By putting things we cannot make or grow ourselves in the deal. I'm sure we have a lot of things that we can't/won't make or grow here that we need.

The UK has the same problem we do, they're a high wage country and now they have removed themselves from the EU they may not have easy access to that market, so now they can't manufacture in the large quantities needed to be really cheap.

China has cheap labour and a huge domestic market so they can afford to set up an assembly plant to manufacture a billion cell phones a year (2019 figures) Who can compete with that?
