http://www.driverstechnology.co.uk/oils.htm
I have a LV focus 2.0L TDCi which in the service manual calls for WSS-M2C013-B oil. I read the above link and it states that is the car manufacturers specification not the actual oil manufacturers. "Put simply, A3/B3, A5/B5 and C3 oils are the better quality, stay in grade performance oils." quoted from above link. So it true for me to think that A3/B3 is good oil but A5/B5 is better and c3 is better again? And if my vehicle requires A3/B3 I can use A5/B5 or C3? But if it requires A5/B5 I can not use A3/B3 but can use C3? And if it requires C3 I can not use either of the other two oils? I don't anything about oil other than what 5w-30 means. So what ACEA category does WSS-M2C013-B fall into or what ACEA oil can I use in my engine?? All I know is that I want a 5w-30 fully synthetic. |

Which just goes to show that you should take whatever you read on the interweb with a grain of salt.
The actual current specification for your LV is WSS-M2C913-D which specification was released in 2012 and is the recommended update for all Ford diesel engines except for a couple. It's an ACEA A5/B5 oil. Cheers Russ

Thanks Russel. I did a bit more reading last night and found some answers to my questions. Something about the different spec'd oil have different shear ratings so you should not interchange say a B3 with a B5 etc.
I did also read that I can use wss-m2c913-b/c/d but the later is most recommended. Ok so B5 it is then if I cant find the OEM's spec's on the bottle. |

I have just found Shell Helix Ultra Professional AF 5w-30 in store which state on the bottle meets WSS-M2C913-C & D.
So I guess I have found my oil. |

Just wondering does my LV tdci have a DPF?
http://www.nulon.com.au/products/Ful...e_Oil/#caution the link above states there oil meets WSS-M2C913-D but is not suitable for vehicles fitted with a DPF. Which leads me to believe that the Australian LV Focus is not squipt with a DPF. Does my LV tdci have a DPF? Last edited by extra_g; 19-06-2016 at 01:31 PM. |
