make sure you have ear plugs for the start. 20 cars at 17000 rpm is a sound that cannot be described
the start is magnificent from there. it is amazing as the revs rise and they take off

trust me, they are a great investment especially for the start
i always wore them when the f1's were out - through the corners they are not as necessary, but on the straights when the cars are flat out - they are pretty much needed
in 97 i was in the front row, just in front of the start. as they take off, even with ear plugs and hands over the ears, my ears were ringing. for one car on the straight they are needed, but for 20 - do not even consider not having them

try to view from other parts of the circuit too. from where you are, they will be going by so fast, the big screen will be a must. friday is normally more quiet, so accessing most parts of the track is easier then

turn 3 to 9-10 and turn 13 -15 are great places to get an appreciation for them. outside of turn 6 as they brake and go through the next few curves is a great place and the inside of turn 13 (parallel with dandenong road), where they are braking so hard, you see their disc glowing bright orange. they are amazing cars, that if appreciated are just the ultimate

I'm there, you will be in the same area as me. I think we are section M row T. pretty much in line with pole position.
You wont miss our group (others not forum members) in the resturant village, We will be the ones with a few of the picnic tables joined into one. Right in front of the truck with the big screen.

Feel free to PM me closer to the days, we could catch up.
and YES, ear plugs ARE a must.

You can get them at the track from the St John ambo guys for a few dollars.

Hat , ohh yeah especially if the weather is like it was last year. We only sat in the stand for F1 events, otherwise you just roasted in 5 min flat. There is NO shade at all. One reason we are sitting a bit further up this year. Hoping to scam some shade ( and beer ) from the corporates behind us.

Sitting in my 3rd floor apartment in Albert Park here in Melbourne.... it is 5:35pm, and me and my partner have been sitting here listening to High revving, loud as cars about 1km from us.... I didn't know that the F1 cars did anything on the wednesday, not complaining, it puts a reality to the whole thing for us.... *gasm* they sound freeking insane, as if they were on the street just below us...... Wish you were here.............................................. ........:P

You trying to make us Jealous. Well you don't have to worry with me. I have little interest in motorsport, apart from the promo and grid girls. :

Enjoy your weekend. You should have a great time.

You should enjoy it. HOWEVER, don't go already hung over. I did that with the F1 in Melbourne a few years ago with a free trip I won through Compaq, and we were in the pit straight exit corporate stand. Boy, thats something I will never forget, and thats whilst wearing earplugs. I feel ill thinking about it.

Autograph day tomorrow.... gonna spend the day standing around trying to see what F1 stars i can score autograph's from, they all only there for 30 mins per team.... it's gonna suck trying to get in line and time it right to see the right teams!

I've been twice but I prefer to watch it on TV as you only see 1 corner or straight and you miss all the cool accidents and overtaking moves.

But thats just me......

Where im sitting, as far as i know (i will update you tomorrow) but, we have 2 super screens, and we're looking at the pits, pretty much in line with 5th place on the grid as far as we can tell, but as i said, i will update you tomorrow night :P

Going for the atmosphere , and just to actually be in the area as these monster machines drive past and burst my eardrums lol :P Hearing them in real life, is alot better than hearing them on TV! :

Going corporate on Saturday, my favorite day. Lots of V8's, F1 qualifying and the indescribable noise, A megalitre of wine. : Wife still doesn't understand if the racing finishes at 5.00 why I never make it home until midnight..:

Then as Buzz Box said I watch the race on TV you get a better view.
