Well this is kinda a scary thread

Here are most of the costs:
$600 BF XR6 Wheels
$750 BF XR8 Wheels
$850 Reco'ed Diff 3.45 LSD
$1000 Suspension
$815 Exhuast
$140 T series gear lever
$180 Cluster
$1545 tune + flash tuner
$250 airbox + filter
$800 HD Clutch
$1571 Manual Conversion
$ 420 BF Rear left cargo window with Ariel
$280 Tint
$3300 Fairlane Ghia for leather interior and V8
$200 Stereo
$220 Leather Console lid and shifter surround
$500 trim bits
$3300 9" Diff

Total = 16,700

+ $10.5k for the car with 83,000kms

Definitely didn't know it would be that much and that is not everything plus I did a lot of the labor myself.

can i include towing costs, costs from accidents and rust repairs? hehe...

naa... here's the list

BA dash = $50
BA console and tiptronic selector = $100
BA Instrument cluster = $20
BA XR6T ICC = $50 (was tipped upside down... lol)
Additional wiring = $stuff all

so yeah, not that much.. $220 for all of it.. then add in the other bits like tensioner, rocker cover and intake gaskets, coil pack, power steering pumps (gone through 5 since we got it), exhaust, gas, accident costs etc... then its wayy over 15k...

Hmm I might take a stab at this one:

Car - $14.5k initial purchase
Wheels + Tyres - $2800
Suspension - $1600
Exhaust - $500
Brakes - $4800
Engine Conversion - $7500
Steering Wheel (inc. in conversion)
Replacement headlights - $100
TS50 Interior - $1000
Complete audio system - $2000

So that brings it to a smidge over $20k in mods or $34.5k overall. I'm sure I've left something out though

Bought an AU111 XR8 in Congo Green in March 2011;

Car $10k
HAD to spend $2-$2.5k on basics. Both front rotors and pads, both rack ends, two front tyres (toyo P4) very nice tyre.Nolathane fully adjustable camber correction kit, rear struts, transmission filter kit with lucas additive(massive improvement),oil and filter change. Anticipate probably a further $500-$600 to get a few other things seen too and then I can spend money on good stuff like cold air intake etc etc.

Total of $10700, not counting servicing and detailing costs. I'm happy with that for what I've gotten out of it.
And another 2k for the head job I just got, but bugger me wasn't it worth it, 40 mm intake and exhaust ports and 41mm exhaust valves make one hell of a difference.

I haven't had my AU3 XR6 for a year yet, and I have already spent I reckon twice on mods what I actually paid for the car. Everyone needs a hobby, and if you hang onto the car long term you wont lose money on it buying another. Once you get it to a point you're happy with the spending slows down anyway.

Bought a XL Dedicated Gas ute bout 6 years ago with just on 200km on it.

Spent:
Front wheel bearings $150
Double din touch screen with BT and reverse cam $450
PCV valve $20
Knock sensor $50

Its now on 335km and is in desperate need of a coil pack and O2 sensor
but, I'm lazy.....
