Default Engine bay clean up: Radiator fluid resovior

hey guys, while everythings off and out of the way in the engine bay, i am trying to clean up a lot. I have wrapped most electricals in heat shielding tape, they look good. My main issue is the Radiator fluid resovior.. its ugly, and big, and i want to remove it..

The battery is in the boot, so the only thing stopping me from cutting that bracket out is the resovior.

I've seen it removed in other cars, just wonderin how is this done? and who can do it? or who sells/makes the neat aliminium ones? any help on cleaning it up would be greatly appreciated! (pic wont upload, of engine bay)

Its there because of the fact the radiator sits lower than the engine...

I don't think it would be wise to completely remove it but I'm sure an ally one would look better than the gay plastic one...

Plus I've had a hose blow off the bottom of those and its a real pain in the *** to drive 150km having to fill up the water every 10 minutes...

anyways...

I got one of the PWR tanks on my BA and it looks way better than the plastic crap. Down side is you have to remove the cap to check the level but I can live with that. I put mine on the buffer and it came up like a mirror, just wish I could get the plennum like that.

As said, it's gotta be mounted above the radiator. It bleeds the system as you drive, if it's lower than the rest of the cooling system you'll get air pockets in the system.

Having said that, you could probably do away with the bottle and fit a conventional system with the cap on the radiator and an overflow bottle, you'd just have to bleed it manually when you refill the cooling system.

BA's do not have this sensor but I imagine one built for an E series would, check with PWR.

Gecko, how much was the BA one?

EDIT: just saw the site. They don't seem to list one for E-Series. Although they have them for AUs, just wondering if they're the same tank design as EB/EF etc??

I have the plastic one and I have to take the cap off to check it as well! It's far from seethrough, so the metal one probably would be a better bet.

From memory it was around the $250 mark.

one bracket underneath back to the driver side rail, and another (that is not welded yet, hose clamped on) that is bolted to the radiator support panel

BPT sell them already made for EA to EL, AU and BA, $360 for E-series and $378 for AU/BA.

Wouldn't be cheap to make a one off.
