Red shakes his head, remembers that living in Melbourne often had it water hazards such as this afternoon shot on the Kingsway.

ha, i dont mean to burst your bubble, but that's nothing compared to what i was doing today. Cleaning up Lara in Geelong... I've been out since 5am putting out signs and unblocking drains. I didnt have a camera with me, but there was water probably 3feet deep in places... on main roads.

We had whole roads washed away... not fun. And tomorrow i get to sweep up all the mess in my street sweeper!

We were nearly evacuated from work.. Diamond Creek was about 5 ft from the Bridge deck on Bridge St Eltham. Saw some big gums smash into the pylons!
Pictures on the news were just amazing.

Both papers tomorrow are must keeps!

I still remember my first time i drove in a flood area, i was 13 and my old man was saying over and over ( dont put ur foot on the clutch ever when going thru water) so i never did but my dizzy wend under the water level and car stoped so i had to crank it out of the water in first gear to dry land and wait for help. no cell phones back in thoes days or hyw patrol .

Not the greatest of pics because by the time I got back to where my car was the creek had gone down a fair bit, you couldn't even tell there had been water on the roads.

Usually this creek is nothing but a trickle.

Just before the rubbish on my road is where I got stuck.

Well I guess I'll just sit back and wait for the inevitable call from my mechanic tomorrow morning... I really do not want to know. :(

Reminds me of when I went for a drive with a mate in his Semi-trailer, we got so far out of Longreach, before he said the water was too high... we did a 3-12point turn to head back to town, on the way back, going through 6 ft deep water, with the current against us, the water finally picked up the whole semi, and washed it off the highway! Only about 40 cm of roof sticking out above the water. Was a LONG swim back to town!

On the news last night they showed flooded Melbourne, and Werribee too. I saw a dark red E series almost completely immersed in the water and instantly thought - oh god, please let whoever owns it be ok. Specially cos it might've been someone on here!

Amazing pics... the other night my hubby was travelling home and all the traffic lights were out. He was stuck in this queue and the main road was not stopping. So he eased the Ford around the queue and blocked the main road so people could get out of the side street.

This guy stopped and blasted the horn, got out of his car. Hubby got out, ready for a punch up and the guy took one look at him (ya don't mess with my lesser half) and jumped back in his car VERY QUICKLY lmao Then Hubby started directing the traffic! hehehehehe

John_xr6 some great shots of Eltham there, the 2nd pic shows just how far the river has swelled near the bridge

I'm tipping the footy ovals between diamond creek and elham would of been under water too...the main road bridge was out all morning!

When I went to have a bit of a look at Eltham the water had gone down considerably and wasn't over the cricket ground anymore....however there was still a massive amount of water flowing through the river.

I also went and had a look at our cricket ground here in Greensborough which is on the edge of the Plenty River. Absolutely no worries at all...it was a little bit wet, but had drained admirably. The river was flowing reasonably strongly, and had risen quite a bit, but not up to its banks. Diamond Creek is the one that was really bad.

The good thing is, I am playing Diamond creek tomorrow in cricket, but it is a home game for us so we should get some play in. Those other grounds won't have much luck at all.

Great pics. I have some on my camera of my place, lots of it went under but not very deep which was good. I wasn't able to get to work yesterday, as the roads and schools were closed, leaving me morooned at home! Still flooded out my way and cars are being diverted down my street away from the floods.

great photos neb...its good to see photos of places when you know where they are exactly....

i couldnt get out to see any of the flooding, i've been as sick as a dog all week, so i was already stranded at home....

my mum works in geelong, and couldnt get to work...

my dad works in the city, and he left and came back 3 times before he finally got to work, so it seems it was pretty bad in every direction.....

kermit, if you're talking about the part i pointed out in the photo below, lol, that is not a man...if it is, he is the smallest man i've ever seen :P
