Default Broken XR5 @ mt cotton hillclimb

just a note to see if the driver of the xr5 turbo that broke it's clutch/gearbox (can't remember which) at the mt cotton hillclimb today is on here?

it is a shame it happened because your car is awesome, sounds awesome, and ive got some good photos of it running for you (they will be uploaded into this thread) hope you get it fixed soon.

good luck in future competitions.

Big Dave, very keen to see this pics. Those XR5's are a great looking car. Shame to hear about this one breaking its clutch, but you would have more chance's of finding the owner www.fordxr5turbo.com

Also be sure to blank out those plates.

Can someone explain what the risk is of showing plates on websites?
I've never understood this.
1000's of people see my plates on the car everyday...on the street.
There is no doubt some risk here...but I can't see it.
Then again I can be a bit slow sometimes!!!!

Warranty would be the only thing I would worry about if the car was new. But if your racing it in an official event then perhaps you dont care about the warranty to much..LOL

Only because he said it was in a Hillclimb. I'm not sure if Warranty covers Hillclibs, just better to be safe than sorry. You never knows who reads these forums.

i'd change it but it wont let me edit the post, the driver didn't seem to mind on xr5t.com anyway so i don't know why ya's want me to change it.

i think that someone who takes there car onto a track takes it knowing that insurance and warranty are void if they have an acco or something breaks on the track anyway

I am sure the guy is on AFF also as I am pretty sure that car has been on a skidpan day hosted by AFF at Gympie.

If it is the same car, that thing is absolutely one of the most awesome little cars ever. The plate looked familiar but as I said he was on here too so he may stumble on this thread (gawd, I hate it when I can't remember a members username :yeees: )

Hope it gets sorted out as soon as possible and without too much dramas.

Hehe with a big front mount like that, I'm not sure knowing the car was in a hillclimb would matter.

Hi All,

Thats Gear (Jeff) one of the mods off the xr5t forums... refer to the link posted by Photn.

He's our resident Stig. Alas he'll be off the road for a few months whilst he gets the baby fixed. :

BTW that I/C continues to look sexy... it's Aussie made too 8)

yep, its me. Got to build a better box. lots of grip and torque pushed the limit of the gearbox. Still got 3rd in class for the day with only the first run

May end up doing a few other things while the car is off the road (rollcage). These cars are alot of fun, and my car is pushing alot more power/torque than stock, so something was going to give, i was expecting a CV, which would have been easy to fix, but a gearbox just means longer off the road while something better is built.

i'll be back racing as soon as i can in the focus.

champion effort mate. I love that car, cameron the cousin didnt end up getting a turbo focus, as the insurance was a bit exxy.. put it this way, cheaper to buy his au2 ts50 and insure that.

i try not to make a habit of braking the car, its done really well for all the motorsport i've done in it. Something was going to give sooner of later as i bumped the power/torque up everytime i took it back out.

the gearbox came out yesterday, the diff let go takeing the case out. new quaife atb diff on its way.
