Sorry, I didnt end up coming.
As it turns out, i didnt go to Army either. Instead i had a motorcycle accidnt and spent last night until early this afternoon in hospital. NOthing to serious, just bad concussion, X-rays initially clear, but i need more on thursday to dicount a possibly a fractured eye scoket. Looks like everyone had a good one. Good work to the organisers.

Ok, bit of a long post but here goes.
The AU BBQ day is done and I personally thing it was a great success. I have learned a lot (like not to trust BBQ’s with “Daewoo” clearly stamped on them.. bloody slow! ::and that the weather is going to open up just as everyone is standing together in one spot.) but it still managed to go quite well I think. Why? Because everyone helped out and pitched in. The list of people to thank is long an illustrious. BLUPRNT XR8 (Mick) – without you the day would never have happened, simple as that. Your efforts were, in general, the backbone of the entire event. DeathXR and Discovery – masters of the BBQ and one hell of a team. Once again proof that, in times of need, people will step up and put themselves out to help. Without you guys we wouldn’t have eaten. Your help during the day is beyond my ability to express and can only say thank you. Glenn and Dave from G&D - roped into judging at the last minute you guys were a great help. Oh, and you don’t have many stickers left.. they went like hotcakes at the end. Don’t blame me if you have AU’s parked down the street waiting for work to be done on them. Bucky – Bucky, Bucky, Bucky.. what can I say? Leader of the interstate convoy and video master. Great to catch up with you again.. and your “towel drying” impromptu lessons : Tornado – Another master of the video and camera. Bet ya didn’t thing you were going to win huh? You walked it in mate, the car is a gem. Davocol – To all those that enjoyed the BBQ today, stand up and thank Davocol and his father for supplying what was probably the best “bulk buy” BBQ meal we could have possibly ever asked for. Along with the meat pack prize, without them we certainly wouldn’t have eaten like we did. Chief – Not known to many but I know you went out of your way to go get all the Purolater gear in Sydney and bring it all the way down. A big thank you to Purolater too for supplying all the goodies. Mrs Whoosha and REDXR8CHICK – For manning the gate and being a huge help getting people in, nametags on and money collected… while keeping pesky non AU’s out (what was with the crazy lady in the softroader later in the day?? Weetbix packet license for sure!!!) RSpecAU – The esky from heaven.. It was a pearler, thanks for the loan for the day! And finally… Cams290- Yes, a BA interloper who came to the rescue and got me up to the shops to grab more bread (at a MAJOR rate of knots) when we ran out. There are more I know I have probably forgotten but its been a big day and the brain is a bit fuzzy. I’ll get a list up of all the winners sometime tomorrow (I’m tired, the list is in the car, and I’m sitting down for the rest of the night) however heres a few interesting stats for the day. Approx 8kg of chicken kababs Around the same in snags About 4kg of hamburgers/rissoles 3kg of onions 2 litres of sauce 14 loaves of bread 1 large tub of marg approx 130 cans of drink 160 paper plates Not a bad consumption effort Anyhow, I want to thank EVERYONE who attended today. Without everyone the day would not have been what it was. It was truly inspiring to see all those AU’s lined up in a row like that.. just a true justification to Ford that maybe they didn’t get to too wrong after all. (one final note, I’d like to thank the son of the owner of the black TL50 5.6L stroker for bringing along what is probably the rarest of all AU’s (and Aust Fords in general). For all those that are wondering, I have no doubt this is the ex-Craig Lowndes TL50 we have all wondered about. Now we know.. and they are part of the aufalcon.com brotherhood.)

Congrats to Casper for bringing everyone together for the great day! Cheers to everyone else involved in the organisation as well, the venue was good (BBQs excluded, but we'll know better next time!), the food was excellent ( : ) and the collection of AUs was outstanding. We're already drooling over the meat tray, and the Sponsor's choice trophy was a genuine surprise, thanks muchly!
Bring on next year! :hihi:

It was a great day, putting faces to the names of the guys that have all the ford wisdom!!!
Had to leave early as the Mrs got cold ( go figure ). I noticed mine ( AULTD ) was the only V8 on gas, is it against some unwritten law????? I really liked Normell's car with the green highligted intakes etc. Casper you put my teeth on edge when you revved your engine past the red line. I am sure I could hear the bearings starting to scream !!!!! Thanks to all for a great day |

Was the noise coming from Casper's car? I didn't know that, would've gone for a look see.
I guess it figures though, can't blame him for wanting to show off the G&D goodies! Yes indeed, a great day. Whilst I'm here, a big thanks to our interstate friends who made the trip south. An awesome effort, particularly entering the Police Camera state, as well as the shock of the cold of the polar ice cap! I hope you guys all have a safe and enjoyable trip home. Bucky I must apologise to your family for the way my daughter jumped on your boy. I hope he's not too traumatised. Oh yeah, and sorry also for the way she chased him around the carpark of your hotel, and yeah, for the harassment at the playground equipment this arvo!! I guess it's good you guys live in Canberra! LOL! It was great to meet you and your family, and the other southern treckers! GK

It was great to come down and check out all the nice cars and nice people !!
You guys really put on a good show !! I was dissapointed i missed seeing the T3 TL, one of the rarest Fords ever !! Congratulations to all the trophy winners, Goran...your T3 is as beautiful as ever, and Mick...your ute gets better every time i see it. It was good to see some of the products that AWC sell, on peoples cars. I will be ordering a rear bar with the centre number plate in the near future, and those carbon fibre bonnets are just AWESOME !!! I had a great afternoon, being the closet AU lover that i am.lol

Shane whens the new cam going in? nasty backfire from your car, valve springs might be on their way. Am I allowed to say that? Your car sounds more like a twin cammer doesn't sound strained at all at high revs like a stockie.
