Im guessing it something ridiculous like that for a 6 aswell. And p platers have to buy it, cause extractors are an engine performance mod.

You'd be MUCH better off getting aftermarket manifolds/extractors. For less than half that price you could get a decent set of extractors to suit that wont be anywhere near as restrictive as the Ford ones.

Sometimes the reason for the high markup is that it can be difficult for Ford to source the items to supply the customer with.

not as bad as $2000 for a territory seat base, yes the part that the base of the seat moves on (6 way).

Dad had a leak in one of the pipes from his V8 exhaust asked the dealer to fix it, with some exhaust putty. The dealership replaced the whole exhaust system on both side for a bit over $3000 in 1993!!!

Dad asked for his original exhaust back and because the dealership threw it out he kept the new one and did not pay for it.

If you really want a laugh, ring up honda and ask for spare parts (not for your ford....duh). A mate of mine has a gen 5 prelude and its cheaper for him to individually freight parts from japan and pay for the japanese lessons to order them than to buy them here. For memory, a tail light assembly without bulbs or wiring is >$400 each side. It gets worse for him but my memory is shot at the moment.

Got quoted $120 for the ~200mm rubber 90 degree tubing between the airbox and throttle body. Bugger that.

Oh well, the ol' Falcons aren't too bad. Doing some work on my Mercedes 560SEC next week...
Dizzy cap... 600
rotor... 150
idle control valve... 1200 (or 550 from bosch)
chain tensioner... 270
6 foot (!) chain... 150
:togo:

He stuffed a valve and ford quoted on 3000 for parts being a couple of valves gasket set v/v springs and a set of pistons(cant buy individually).
Hes sourced them from the us for a 1/3 of the price.
im not too sure if they are a mazda engine.

Not a bad price when you consider you get all the extras on top:

* Free factory-backed brake shudder and squealing
* Free unlimited 1st year apprentice brake "testing" in the carpark behind the workshop
* Unlimited greasy marks and crap all over your car
* Complimentary patronising spiel from your service advisor

Ford spares are always good for a laugh :P

I would suggest if you are patient, you could pick up a 2nd hand set pretty cheap from someone who has upgraded.

I left mine at the exhaust place when I upgraded...probably ended up in the scrap metal bin...doh!
