Default Help needed fitting a series II cd into a series I

Hi guys, i have just put a series II Stereo Tape/Cd into a series I. Managed to massage everything so it fits in (very tight with the room behind but managable). Everthing works fine except the steering wheel controls no longer work. Just wondering is someone could point me in the right direction as to if this can be rectified simply by redirecting the steering wheel control wires on the back of the stereo. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Rhys.

Try posting this in the Audio Tech section of the forums, some of the audiophiles in there may be of a little more assistance.....

i dont think many people would have bothered... the aftermarket path is alot better and cheap and more reliable than the factory headunits... and can now be mounted easily (thanks to JC)

I did exactly the same thing. you will not be able to hook up the steering wheel controls because from what I have been told by an Auto Electrician is, the control for the steering wheel switches on series II and III goes through the BEM.

Ok thanks for that. I thought there may have been some change like that. Kind of annoying but then my sister will have to get over it.
