Just wanted to say hi to everyone.
I just purchased a 2000 V6 5sp Cougar S/W. This cat has a few K's on her (224k) but she drives like new. I got her from a dealer and the previous 2 owners (both women) maintained her very well, she had a full service history so I'm not too bothered about the high K's. I'll post some pics later. True story. Last year I bought a Daihatsu Sirion 1L 3 banger (112k K's on it)from a young girl for 600 bucks no air con no power steer nothing stock as a rock, the Cougar at the dealer had a window price of $3,990 on her. Well get this, I outsold the salesman and got $2500 for the Sirion. So my new baby cost me $1400 ( bargain eh ). She does have 1 small problem with a power steering high pressure line leak. Only minor but very annoying. I got a complete new line from RockAuto.com. My mechanic says he has to drop the motor to get to the bottom connection at the rack. Is this true? Is there any other way to swap the h.p line. Oh btw it is the line that comes out of the top of the PS pump right behind the pulley. Cheers in advance for any advice. Todd P.S. glad I found AFF |

Well done on selling your DacDac and welcome to the Cougar forum. Can't help with the techo questions but you are on the right track with rockauto.

Hi Todd, welcome to AFF. To answer your question, No! There is no need to drop the engine to access/replace the hose. That would be silly. I will have to look under my car to be able to guide you. It's been a while I did anything to it. So don't remember what the setup is.
Worst case you will have to undo couple of subframe bolts to lower subframe little bit to access the hose on rack. But I don't think this is the case. Every thing should be accessible without touching big things under the bonnet.
