All the gearboxes (ratios etc.) in the Mk 2 Escorts are the same, even the RS2000. The only difference is the speedo gear.

About 14 yrs ago I done a conversion in my first car a 70 something Capri. It had a 1600 and 4 speed man & I replaced it with a RS2000 motor and gearbox that I rebuilt. Was a fairly straight forward project for a 16 yr old. The only things I needed to mod was the tailshaft, fuel lines, relocate the radiator and battery, modify the wiring to the altrenator and starter motor. Was a good conversion and looked very much original and a hell of alot better than the old 1600.
