hid's on the way

Well its started now- the task of retro fitting hid bi zenons on the fairlane.
So far its still a fairlane front end .
In this will be bmw projectors with angel eyes fitted.
So far the angel eyes are sorted but i'm just waiting for the projectors.
Heres some pictures but i will post some more when the rest is installed.

how will the plastic headlight outter lens parts going to go with the UV radiation given off by the HID lights them selves?? wont they go yellow??

good luck with it!! cant to see hte finished product!!as i think the angel eyes would look nice on the lanes

Ive been in contact with mavs19 on another site forum and says it wont be a problem as long as i do my homework right to set them up properly.
Fairlanes have deep lights so the fit will be good.
For the lanes, you can now get the lil' tickford front bar add on($450.00)and the grill($120.00) but the mesh for the grill is $400

Side skirts(tl50) are 1200 each Which im looking at seeing if the sr wagon ones will be trick or see awc as well
You dont need the vin numbers either.
Hopefully the lights will be finished in three weeks and i'll post some pics

welcome to the forum (forgot to say that in my last post *oops*)thats some $$ stuff!!

the front bar insert was $100 last month at ferntree gully salvage who is in our sponsors section up the top^^

the grill will be good!
could you go see a metal workshop and get them to fab up a stainless mesh grill for it?
will look good when its finished!!

is it lowered? if so how low and what springs did you use

Yeah will do.
As for my lane it was lowered with king springs (50mm) riding on 18" speedys hyper's.
As for mech mods is 2.5" exh hi flow cat and pacemaker headers.
Just recently had sequential gas injection fitted as well.
But thanks i will do a bit of a writew up in that section..

Yeah they were superlows but i found that with the 18"'x 8.5"s on the passenger side front i had to roll the guard a bit as they just caught it and pulled the guard lip down .
it has brand shocks as well which i thought might be a dud shock but all has come good.

I also have the TL50 grille on mine (liquid silver) now but haven't had a chance to take any photos. The mesh came with it and I got it all for $102 from..... ahem..... eBay.

its a pity our stock grille is plastic as its alot harder to mod as its all plastic chromed :(

I know, I had the same idea. Rip out those horizontal vanes, sand them down, strip it and repaint it and get some mesh from Supercheap Auto or something. But yeah, it's all one piece and would be a real hassle to do.

you wouldnt have a piccy of your mesh dauphin?
Do you reckon it could be sourced from some where else?
Where it is the name you pay for ,for the mesh.
As for the hid lights they have arrived now but im over in vic working and wont be back in perth to fit them for another two weeks

So far i have set the angel eyes up and before i left they are now fixed to the front bezels and sit good in the holes where the normal lights go.
(More pics soon).
I am also looking at the bonnet bulge for the fairlane which should also give it a tougher stanceAnd fitting sr wagon side skirts.
Not too sure if the skirts will throw the front and rear bar out of whack though.
As for the rear spoiler for the lanes it is the only one but i am not too sure if one off an AU would make it look good ,but also fit as the boots are different.

the AU wings WILL NOT fit as the boot is totally the wrong shape
the only wng available is DAMN UGLY!

i wonder how the skirts will go!

the lights should look hot!

for the mesh hit up some metal suppliers of mesh etc.. maybe try a woven stainless style mesh like on the bentley grille ?

Took a photo of my car today, needs a wash and you can hardly see the mesh. Also has chrome mirrors. Also installed the oversized premium aerial on the boot.

I can't get the mesh out at the moment because I stuffed one of the screws mounting the plastic on the car!

They are speedy wheels, "hyper".18" x 8's or 8.5" cant remember.
I was thinking of going black centre on 'em just to take that soft edge off the lanes.

the 18" speedy wheels Hypers is what auvct has !

auvct are you having trouble with the back wheels rubbing on the inner guard /bumper moulding at the back edge of the arch..?

Hey blackers.
No.
I had more trouble with the front passenger wheel which was just pulling the lip of the guard down as i turn into ,say a petrol staion and went over a bump.
I just rolled the guard a bit which has seemed to fix it, cause the missus doesnt like me giving her funny looks when shes sittin on that side.
you have 20's on ur car which might be it but is there any tell tale sign of it touching?
If so you might be able to modify(cut)

: that area,and do it that no one can notice.
I was looking at 20's but tyre profile held me back.
Now i am running 245x45x18 which still is a hard ride and which is lowered.
I didnt want to lose that driving on clouds feeling.

for what its worth, ive only got a cheap hid kit....not an actual retrofit like you're doing.
but i am using E36 (ie 318i) reflectors and projectors in my Fairlane headlights and the E36 projectors seem to be quite good with the xenon patern.
dont have any wierd hotspots / dancing light like ive seen with others

The aerial comment was a sarcastic remark about the power pole in the background of my photo.

I toyed with the idea of getting the spoiler off eBay for $50 when it was listed but then I decided that I'd like it to be unadorned. I think having a big slab at the back suits it well. But then, I do really like lip spoilers like the Statesman has.

Are those the earlier version of BMW angel eyes or the latest with fibre optics etc.?
