and the 10k change you have to customise your car
One AU Falcon 10k + 6k Supercharger doesn't equal 28k XR6T

Im actually looking at aupercharging my vct , i've been looking at the Vortech/ V-2 Quiet/ designed for the vct . It's water injected / stage 2 / 9 to 11 psi boost and rated to put out 285 kw .. cheapest i have found so far is just under $8000 for the full kit . If anyone has seen 1 any cheaper please let me know - this is a definate mod that is gonna happen soon . ta .

They dont make the Vortech kits for the AU anymore..
I rang and spoke to them, no-one was buying them, they were all satisfied with the Powerdyne unit, so there was no point for the Vortec...
The only way to get a Vortech kit, is to buy all the gear seperately and get a bracket fabbed up.. will more than likely work out to be 8k or cheaper..
depends on the gear you get, brand new, 2nd hand etc etc..

i have found a place that sells them , besides the Powerdyne was only a stage 1 .. 9 psi max and only 240kw. i could get that (full kit) too for $6,300 . but i was looking at the vortech for just under 8g .. All the aboce brand new too ...

eeeewwwww . thats not good ! - as it was Capa i was looking at getting the kit from , i didn't realise they had stoped selling them now , there must be someone still selling them , the specs on the vortech is heaps better/higher than the powerdyne ! . :(

Yeah thats what I mean, I begged and asked for them to do it again or atleast give me the print of the bracketry so I can get one fabbed up but nooooo they cant..

The only thing missing from the Vortech kit is the bracket..
so you can still get everything and get a bracket made elsewhere..

when I go this route, im only going to buy the Vortech unit, pulleys and belts, the rest i'll get done elsewhere..

yep, they sell the rest of the set up no problems..

id get rid of the fuel system and ecu chip they supply, and purchase your own though..
walbro 255 intake fuel pump, 42lb ford motorsport injectors, and a proper engine management or Edit will cover that, will cost a little more but will also work alot better..

as for the bracket it would be take alot of time to make i think, would be costly unless you made it yourself or knew someone that is a fitter/machinist by trade that could do it for you on mates rates..

I am actually a fitter and turner by trade , i just drive forklifts nowerdays though.. it really is an easy bracket setup , they use an auto-tension setup , it's just a huge spring with a free spining small pulley below it keeping tension on the belt , mouned to the left of the supercharger on the bracket between the supercharger and the engine - so at higher revs when the belt expands it allows the tension wheel/spring to back off the tention on the belt so it doesn't get to high and burn the belt out.

I had a look around the CAPA site and it seems the powerdyne is the only one that can run dry.. "No Oil Lines! No Oil Reservoir!
Our unique belt drive eliminates the need to plumb oil to the blower which vastly simplifies installation. No hot oil means the blower runs much cooler than blowers with engine oil plumbing or oil reservoirs. A cooler blower means lower under-hood temperatures, denser charge-air and more horsepower. The POWERDYNE is the most efficient centrifugal supercharger made."

THe Vortech ones don't seem to advertise anything similiar.. Not to say they can't but the site doesn't advertise they can..

have a read about them , from what i have read nothing has quoted if yes or no to the matter , but from what i have read its a no , also looking at alot of the kits that were on offer it was either included ( if needed) or was optional ( if not needed ) - the vortech everyhwhere i looked in the past was included , not optional , prolly cos of the higher psi boost .. but i know a few of the powerdyne models can run dry np .

yeah but I dont know about you, but a 50,000rpm spinning impeller I would want oil going through, even if it is hot oil.. atleast its getting some form of lubricant..

powerdyne can run dry, because they have a kevlar pulley in it, Vortechs needs oil because its got a proper gearbox in it..

i think alot of the time ull find it comes down to the main spindle/drive inside the unit itself / like turbos - most of this gear pushing around 9psi or more runs on bearing in the gut that requires a thin layer of oil between the bearings and the spindle , like the main centre of the shaft is sitting within a layer of oil a few thou .oo1" thick of oil, then the bearings around that , u would ceaze most bearing running them dry at such high rpms with such high psi load on it otherwise ..

Tibbo, when were you gonna tell me you were supercharging?

Mechan1k, I fired off an e-mail to Snort a little while back and they told me that it wasn't worth their time and money to release a supercharger kit. Have they changed their minds?

Hey tibbo, are you installing it your self?

IF you ARE, you should make a little tutorial or something, with the parts you need, where they go etc... you know??

cheers & good luck with it!
