Default Insurance and WillowBank Raceway

What are people covered for?

How does you driving a financed vehicle affect going onto WillowBank?

Will Comprehensive insurance cover one test drive along WillowBank?

Does your insurance allow for you to do test runs like this or would it be considered as illeagal drag racing?

Was just wanting to get one test run in before upgrading in any manner.

Just curious to people comments though this is a Brisbane question, but may differ between states and individual drag strips.

Interested in your comments and experiences, though my circumstances maybe different as it is financed car. Though a friend has done it she later has blown her Waterpump and amongst other things done engine damage and that was a BA.

Unless you have specific motorsport cover (as issued by Shannons etc), you have NO INSURANCE WHILST DRIVING AT WILLOWBANK. Any insurance policy you might have will definately have a disclaimer "We will not cover any damage arising from the use of the car in any form of speed trial, testing, racing or other competition"

Most people just take the risk...

You have to take it up with the other person direct.
I think the form you sign at race meets waives the racetrack and sponsors too.

Drive at your own risk.

No matter where you are you are not covered by normal insurance if you are racing.
The only thing you can do if something happens is to drag it out to the street and come up with a real good story.
But that involves dishonesty=fraud and I don't think that would be wise because if your sprung no insurance mob will ever touch you for comprehensive insurance ever.
So I don't think your a dishonest person the choice is simple race and take your chances or don't race your street car.

You'd have to be a real tool to write off a car at the track, but it's not hard for a 1o sec or lower car to get out of shape and wipe your pride and joy out. $3oo for 6 meets is well worth the money esp when were talking about $5o,ooo+ cars. ANy links for this info, im really intrested.

$300 would cover personal injury and medical only.
