Default Flash Tuner finally done and awesome results!

Just had mine flash tuned, and what a difference it has made.
Went well for the mods i have, but now its a ball tearer, and there is still more in it, we are going to try a few things with MAF tables and different MAF's.

Highly recommend this to any AU XR8 owner as the factory settings in the ECU's are very conservative and restrictive, there is plenty to be gained with the right tuner if they are prepared to spend the time.

The MAF's are a very important area to look into, and with the right tuning of the MAF tables plenty of power and very good economy can be gained.

From what ive seen so far, and mines only had a bit of a tinker with the fuel and timing, the car is better everywhere, in gear, at takeoff, awesome midrange, it just pulls much harder, all round very well for so little done.

Mods are important too, a good aftermarket exhaust will make the car come alive, and dont be fooled by thinking you will loose torque with a decent 4 into 1 extractor as its a load of BS as i can guarentee with mine its not the case :eclipsee_

Dyno sheets will be posted when more tuning is done, i am happy with it at the moment as its atleast 15 rwkw's better, at least (it is that strong, bum-o-meter confirmed extreme lack of traction lol).

Mods are, difilippo system, 4 into 1 extractors (1 3/4" primary, 3" collector) Hi flow cats, 2.5" into single 3" exhaust.
1.72 st2027 rollers, 70 mm tickford throttlebody, home made CAI, addition of BA XR8 intake snorkel, 1/2" phenolic spacer.

Very much looking forward to seeing what it does at the drags, will definatly need some sticky tyres as it is hard to get traction even when rolling the throttle on from idle, and a new set of rear shocks to stop the dreaded axle tramp.

This is the best money i have spent on it to date, as said before, they are surprisingly very restricted, the timing we put in, and fuel we took out lol.

Good on ya, thats great to hear. I only have a generic tune at the moment. So it's good to see a decent custom tune will liven it up a bit. Keep us posted...

Thanks mate, im already used to it lol, got used to it in the first 10 mins!!

Still have plenty to do on it, will be testing MAF's etc, and more tuning so will have all sorts of dyno results when ready, and a good time at the drags when the next drag day comes along.

I have an 80mm T3 MAF I most likely won't use again lthough I'm not sure if you'd be at the point where it'd really make all that much difference, beside the fact that it would undo all of the tuning you've done so far............

I might look into that one, if you want to get rid of it that is.
I have a 75mm granatelli (85mm at airbox, 75mm at TB) already, which worked well before edit was even released, and is going to be setup with edit aswell as the stock one to see what sort of gain can be made, ill post results when ready.

A good exhaust, and CAI with Flash Tuner will work very well, and also having the setup already done makes life easier when time comes for more mods like cam, heads etc.

Just make sure you use a good tuner, and dont go tight on the tuning side as thats where it all is.

Its a shame i couldnt sell any more boxes to AU members!!

I tried to give my hard earn away on a tune a box.
But it was found that there wasn't much to be gained. So I kept my money.

Yeah there is plenty of info in the Tickford section saying the T series dont need them as they run too well, especially with the mods they have, not necessary...

I think XR's benefit the most from the edit. But I have seen some T3's that run little rich.

Picked up mine Phil.....Thanks for the great deal.

Well done on the results, I'm waiting until I install the supercharger before I get mine tuned but I have set aside $500 for tuning time.

Again, thanks Phil, $600 for a flash box was a great price!!

Regards

TS50 on its first dyno run measured 11.5:1, how accurate it was i'm not sure as it was on a dyno day where the cars were chucked on for two pulls then off they came.

Ive had some more tuning done, managed to clean up the fuel and spark tables a fair bit more which made heaps of difference in overall driving, power and torque.
No graphs to show as there is still more to do. Power before tune was 160 rwkws, after this current tune 172 rwkws. Torque 450 before, and 491 after.

The torque curve was flat as, shows with the way it delivers it now, smooth and pulls from idle with a very strong midrange.

Still havent done any MAF work, lol, but will get onto it very soon, that should give it a few more kws, and plenty of torque aswell.

All things going well, should be able to give it a blast down the 1/4 mile at the AFF drag day.

Also posted in the performance section.
