Default New (to me) LS Zetec Hatch

Hi all.

I've finally started up a thread about my LS Zetec Hatch. Purchased from a dealer a month or so ago. Quite enjoying the car, it's a bit like an overgrown go kart.

It's not without it's issues however. Any advice on the following would be appreciated.

When turning the steering wheel a noise can be heard. Sales guy reckons this is only from a bit of 'something' getting lodged in or around the wheel/steering column in the cabin. Any suggestions as to be best way to fix this? Apparently it's no big issue it's just annoying.

Also the clutch pedal squeaks. I'm sure I read something about this earlier so one of these days I'll get around to greasing the noisy bit.

More annoyingly one of the interior handles (Parts you would use to close the hatch from open) doesn't seem to screw in properly. I've tried a few times to get the thing to screw in to no avail. Any tips here?

Two annoyances I'm reasonably sure there aren't fixes for are the indicators on the wrong side and the fresh air vent defaulting to open. whoever at Ford decided that was a good idea needs to be shot.

Cheers

No replies eh?

Another quick one, anyone else had the little 'poles' that the strings for the parcel shelf connect to the hatch with break? One of mine has lost it's end so the string doesn't stay on. Ideally someplace I could just order it online would be great, ebay has failed me.

Cheers

I think they would be a genuine article and shouldn't be all that expensive, or you could always try a wreckers

Is this noise a squeak like a dry seal? a creak like a dry uni joint? Or a scrape type noise which can come from the airbag clock spring?

Also the clutch pedal squeaks. I'm sure I read something about this earlier so one of these days I'll get around to greasing the noisy bit.

Dry pedal pivot bush?

I agree with the indicator issue, but I was aware for it and you get used to it in time. The bad thing is when you get into a non Euro car you turn the wipers on
The above and the vent default to fresh air is common on most new cars. This is not a Ford design. Lessens heat build up in the summer and lessens moisture build up on those cold wet days.
