Default Current Delivery Times

Hi,

Interested if anyone knows the current delivery timeline for the focus?

Have spoken to a Ford dealer who appears to be a little reticent to quote a date, so I'm guessing it isn't quick at the moment and hasn't been from reading in here.

I've been tossing up between a focus and mazda 3 and have settled on the focus for a few reasons, but waiting a few months doesn't really appeal.

Also, is there a known date that production will start out of Thailand? Will this focus be an 'update' version with any extra features? Am wondering if waiting before committing maybe better if it's not too far off?

Thanks for any info.

Cheers,

Good question, I'm also wondering about whether it's worth waiting for production to shift to Thailand in the hope it may bring extra features for the same price...

Went to speak to a Ford dealer in East Sydney recently and he guestimated a wait of around 6 months for a White Focus Titanium w/ sports executive pack...

Exec pack vehicle 6 month wait sounds crazy, I know someone who ordered one in Nov '11 when I ordered mine and their car arrived when mine did, around two and a half months.

I doubt there will be any extra features when production moves to Thailand.

If its gonna be 6 months you are better off waiting for the ST/Turbo model ;)

Stock is tight, Focus is selling, depending on what model/colour/engine/trans you want will depend ETA. All models doing quite well for the past few months, great to see.

We purchased one last week and we were not told a date. We were told, could be a week, 2 weeks, a month or up to 3 months. We got so frustrated with the uncertainty we decided on an in stock demo.

I really wish we rang all the dealers to see what they have in stock and then purchase from that dealer. ford dealers say, we can get the one you want from another dealer, however thats only if the other dealer wants to give it up.

Its very frustrating that ford doesnt have a big range on the docks ready for customer purchases.

Carsales shows what dealers have in stock.

Delivery times in Adelaide vary quite a bit. There are still some new 2011 plate cars around with good discounts and for immediate delivery . But of course you have to take what you can get which could coincide with what you want if you are lucky.
I get the impression that dealers order according to your choice if the car you want is not in stock and that shipments of ordered cars plus some 'spares' for stock arrive every few weeks. If the spare stock on the water is already allocated you may have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for a particular spec car.i.e. model/engine/gearbox/color of your choice.

That was my response when Ford told me 'sometime in April' late last year. Went from early December, to late December, January, the end of February, then April. Supposedly the Sports Executive Pack with the GDi engine is what delays the car. Not sure why, but that was the reason given. Thought the delivery time would have cleared up by now like when the Fiesta launched, but it doesn't appear so...

Reason being not many dealers (as well as Ford) have ordered the Sports Exec pack on Titanium so stock is short in petrol and diesel. Plus we have never has a high series Focus sell as well as Titanium has so the waters are still being tested on what to order etc.

Its just annoying that dealers are selling these and forcing people to sign contracts with no idea when delivery times will be.

At order I was promised it would be here by the first week of January at the absolute latest. Delays occur and these are inevitable sometimes, but the constant lies and ignoring my phone calls is what really put me off. Got some people to look into to SIDO number, and supposedly there was no due date associated with the order so anything they were telling me was fibs. That’s my only qualm. Hopefully Ford can get the supply problems eased this year, as the Titanium is a top car. And with SYNC on the way, it’s going to get even better!

I went through the same problems as you! The only kept me going with the deal, was the car. I called them whilst I was away on holidays and told them to ha r the car ready for me or for them to give me a courtesy car until it came in. In the end, they got it ready and I picked it up the day after I got back. My wait for the car went from a month, to 3months.

This is the main issue I had with our purchase as ref'd from my original post. The evasive behavior and down right lying almost put us off the purchase.

The focus was always our first preference, but when you can go in to a Mazda, Hyundai, or VW dealer and they are up front from the get go about waiting times for particular spec./color (which was sometimes the same time as the Ford wait) it was frustrating to have to deal with Ford. It left a dirty feel to whole process.

Their sales technique was very poor and it's as if they don't understand that car will sell itself and us mug punters are happy to wait - just tell us!

In any event we are in the waiting process now and hope their final estimation (late April) holds true.

Rant over ;)

We order 4 months in advance with no idea on what Ford will advertise that month. eg We are in March, we have no idea what Ford will promote in July. We have a fair idea what to order but it is never right, the colour will be wrong, the transmission wrong, missing an option etc, hence looking around the country for the right car (history sometimes repeats) Like everything there is always a story behind it all. We want to sell cars and deliver ASAP, why would we want to hold off on deliveries and annoy a customer?

Germany cant supply enough off the new Focus, there are also supply issues with the new Ranger I was at Strapp Ford last week they had a customer from NSW buying a Ranger in Vic, I have seen FPV's purchased interstate but never a Ute.
Approximately the middle of this year the Focus will be in full production in Asia this should ease supply problems.

But will the quality be the same as the Euro Focus??? Fiesta went down a grade when production switched to Thailand, a few features were dropped....lets hope Ford has learnt from the Fiesta experience...

Yet we sell more Thai Fiesta than Euro ever did, nothing is wrong with the quality of Thai Fiesta, Focus will be built in a totally different plant to Fiesta starting July.

Comparing a WS Zetec to a WT Zetec, apart from the harder dash, I was pressed to find much more of a difference. They've done a top job IMHO.
