Default was a detroit locker even an option in xg and xh utes

i have been told to put a detroit locker out of an xg or xh in my eb2 question is did they ever have 1 in them from factory? and what are the advantages over a detroit locker and a lsd

No detroit lockers from factory in those. Only 'Hydratak' diffs in the outback models. EL GT's and some HSV Dunnydoors also use the Hydratrak centre. Google it and read up if you want more info.
I have to ask why you have been told to put a Detroit Locker in? What sort of driving do you do?

ok then thanks for the help i was saying to a mate the next thing i need to do to the car is put an lsd in and he started saying to put a locker in i didnt ask why

Mine had LSD.? But I don't think they did from factory. :S

Yep the Hydratrak are a viscous coupling LSD. They will be hard to find and I did read on here that they are no longer available and cannot be serviced/rebuilt due to being a sealed unit - an issue with BTR or whatever their name is these days! Once the viscous fluid inside has degraded or been cooked there is a problem.

Deathlucky I'm sure wikipedia will have a description on how a detroit locker works compared to a normal clutch-pack LSD, there are also a few other types available now. I wouldn't have a detroit locker as a first choice for a street car.
