Hey guys and girls, started working on the route for the October cruise last night and was wondering what sort of roads would you guys prefer. I know the hills pretty well and was wondering if you prefered to stick to main roads eg chain of ponds to gumeracha and onkaparinga valley rd- woodside oakbank etc, or would you like me to include some interesting back roads most people may not usually drive on. Could chuck in some neat little roads i know of if you like. I'll predrive them to make sure they would be ok to drive as well.

Ok so borrowing Shav's idea here's a start, see what you guys think.
Start at Parafield - Main North Road to Gawler. Gawler to Lyndoch bakery(first stop)
Lyndoch - Williamstown - Kersbrook - Chain of Ponds - Cudlee Creek - Lobethal - Woodside - Balhannah(maybe a regruop here) - Hahndorf.
Hahndorf - Echunga - Meadows - Kangarilla - Clarendon bakery(second stop)

Clarendon (slight backtrack to Bakers Gully Rd.) - McLaren Flat Rd. - Wickhams Hill Rd. - Range Rd. ( def. worth doing, great views on this road) - Old Willunga Hill Rd. Willunga Bakery (regroup) and on to Aldinga etc. Might leave this bit up to Shav as I figure he knows the area.

See what you reckon so far and we can take it from there?

this looks good mate. I'll study the southern part more closer when I get back from holiday's next week. I'll pm you with any suggestions then. Top plan though, this will be a great route.

good idea dave. Also make sure no other major sporting events coincide with this too.

was thinking this thread needed a bump!!!. the 17th is near my B'day so that could play a priority. but at the moment nothing is planned for that day so it's still looking as a real priority (saved in phone)

take blacktop road and some other roads around goulds creek, then onto one tree hill road to gawler. far more fun and better than MN road

I would definitely consider what Matt (SVR73) is saying. He knows some great roads.

Absolutely,we could make this a joint venture. Matt (SVR73) could do the nothern hills section, I could do central hills area and you Shav could finish off with the southern section. Sound like a plan?

While I'm at it. Would you guys have any recommendations for a Ford club to have a look at here in Adelaide or do you just go with the AFF crew type of thing?

been there done that, moved on
former member of the two tickford clubs, falcon car club and hung out with the E series guys at the start of the decade.

I like the online side of the scene these days.
there would be enough cars to have it AU only but I feel that the presence will be far better if we invite X, E and B series people as well

we need to unify. invite as many clubs and forum groups to join in but have a strict policy regarding hoon behaviour
in the future, Id like to see us do the occassional Holden and Ford joint cruises, each starting in a different direction on a cruise and meeting at the half way mark for some food and socialising. might not be liked but its something Im up for

there are a few holdens and hsv's that I really adore

Yeah wasn't sure about the joining a club thing thats why I thought I'd ask here. Seems like there's a pretty good thing going here so i reckon I'll probably stick with the online thing as well for now. Cheers for the replies.
Any way back to the cruise, went for a bit of a drive this arveo seeing as the weather was good for it today. We went to Williamstown and on to Kersbrook. I thought I'd have a look at a couple of side roads and did Hill rd/Norsworthy rd then Checker hill rd. Think Checker hill might be a bit sketchy for a cruise so have decided to leave it out.
So from Kersbrook we went to Chain of ponds and turned left towards Gum and then turned right onto Gorge rd back to Cudlee Creek and left towards Loby. Turn right up Fox Creek rd to Lenswood then onto Swamp road towards Balhannah.
Nice run through some hills back roads and a good drive.
What do you guys think.
I'll start letting the other guys know about the cruise tonight in their respective forums etc.

Thats a great plan, looks like I'll have some driving to do on the first weekend in september
I am seriously pumped about firing up the SA ford cruising scene, its about time I stepped up to the plate and got some runs going

the outer rim of the metro area is my specialty. salisbury, elizabeth, goulds creek, blacktop, one tree hill, paracombe, two wells, mallala, hamley bridge, lower light, gawler, willaston, sandy creek, cockatoo valley and many more
lived around the north since 1974

Up to you Dave. Those that venture on here usually let other clubs know already. MFC, ACF, PSF and the like will most likely already know about it. But you could make it an AFF based cruise if you like. Personally I think we are all on the same page so really it doesnt matter what its named as long as the rules are there to abide by and we all have a good time.

Ah yeah probably should've made it a bit clearer, What i meant was clubs to have a look at joining if you guys know of any good ones. Already a member of southern districts but thats mainly for my cams navvy license so looking at a Ford based club for cruise and social events etc. Thought you Adelaide boys might be a member of one.

Well Im not a member per sey but I am on their forums. Modified Ford Club, Adelaide Cruizn Fords and Pro Street Fords to name a few. Even post something in Ford Mods and Boosted Falcon forums. Put the word out to the x-falcon boys and all the e-series guys too.

Good to see your keen Matt. Definately sounds like the way to go.
I agree with Shav's suggestion of letting other ford guys know about this cruise and opening it up. Reckon we might struggle for numbers with just AU's. What do you guys think.
Maybe e-series, x-series and b-series for instance?
Still keep the AU meet thing happening as a kinda sub-cruise.

Bathurst is on the 10th, Gazzanats on the 17th, Extreme Horsepower and Mt Gambier Autofest on the 31st. So the 24th is looking good atm.
