what do you want to work out?
angles sine = opposite/hypotenuse cosine = ajacent/hypotenuse tangent = opposite/ajacent if you want to work the angles out from lengths you use the inverse sine/cosine/tangent buttons on the calculator, usually sin-1, cos-1 or tan-1 on the calculator pythagerous' theroem a squared + b squared = c squared |

Could you calculate it like a rectangle/square and divide by 2. Length*width then divide by two? Two equal right angle triangles placed on each other would be a square or rectangle depending on triangle shape? Do you know what I mean?

I did YR12 in 2004 I don't remember all the rules or anything strange like that but the logic makes sense, glad to help. Trigonometry was my favourite maths section though, sad as that may sound.

Area of a triangle is A = 1/2BxH
ie. A - Area B - Base H - Height

1/2 base length X height for a right angle triangle area (1/2 a rectangle)

for non right angled triangle he would be using the sine area rule area = 1/2 a x b sin c where c is the angle between the 2 sides a and b a and b are both lengths. |

The correct rule as mentioned already is BASE X HEIGHT divided by 2.
It works for ANY and ALL triangles, as long as the height measurement is at right angles to the base (but the triangle does not have to be a right angled triangle) |

Half base X height...
Good old maths..fave topic at school... I never reached any great heights (does it show), but I still enjoyed it Still miss learning about maths too.

Isn't this primary school maths?
Q. What is the area of a rectangle? A. = Length x width Q. What is a right angle triangle? A. = 1/2 a rectangle |
