Default EF/EL as US police cars?

Hey all.

I was watching Death Race 2 the other day and noticed that they used EF/EL falcons for some of the police cars. In some scences I think they appeared to be right hand drive too.

It makes no sence to me for hollywood to import aussie falcons just to blow them up when there are soo many us police cars so I was wondering if anybody knew anything about EF or EL's going to the states????

Correct.
There are other movies with Aussie Falcon's in, of which i cant remember the name of the film but there was an AU parked in the back ground of one scene.

i'm pretty sure some of it was filmed in New Zealand, so i'm guessing the parts with the EF/EL's were done there.

If you look at the scene of "The Marine" where they're all stopped at the 'gas station', there are a few shots where you can see a red XD with its bonnet up. I believe that was shot in qld.

"Knowing" with Nicolas Cage a couple of years ago, there was a clear side shot of a Territory in an underground car park.
And a clear Victorian numberplate on a Getz (I think) in the plane crash scene, when he's sitting in the traffic jam.

No only ef/l's from memory. Released in 2000 so probably finished filming by the time the first AU was released.

Couple O Screenshots for yall:

and IMDB only puts the filming locations down as Cape Town South Africa, i dont recognise the Highway scene as anything local (not that ive seen every highway in australia and im welcome to being proved wrong on that one)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1500491/locations

And they are definaely using Crown Vics in the Background, weird that they have mixed the two

The original Punisher movie (Dolph Lundgren) was shot in Aus.
You can see Sydney landmarks, and they used Valiants, CL or CM as cop cars.

Whats worse are Aussie shows like Underbelly. It's early 1995 and theres brand spanking new cars driving around in the background.
