Can any you COVID-19 experts tell me am I allowed to take my best mate
down to mornington peninsula to pick up his car as the tuner said it would be ready this Friday ?? finally after having it for 4 mths

why I'm asking as it's definitely more then the 25km raduis but can't he say it's essential [car repairs, at the mechanic's shop]
or do we need to wait until after November the 8th ?? to go and pick it up his car

even though the guy will txt him to tell my mate that the car is ready to be pick up or do we need more proof as in a letter from the shop ??

Cheers Dean

I recently spoke to my tuner about this, who is also situated outside the 25km zone. They said I can travel over 25km if they give me a letter. The justification is that the car can only be tuned / retuned by them, so it is an "essential" service to get the car operating properly and safely. So your mate will need a letter from the tuning shop.

Data valid as at 23:59 GMT November 3rd, 2020.

Note: As not all Australian States report at the same time, the data below is based on the previous full day reporting except for the Victorian 14 day moving averages.

10 new cases for Australia and no deaths so the CMR drops to 3.284% while active cases remain at 1,319. NSW recorded 9, Queensland 2 cases and SA / WA, 1 each. Victoria reported no new cases for the last 24 hours for the 5th consecutive day.

3 new cases and no deaths for NZ so CMR is 1.268% and active cases fall to 73.

The UK had a higher 25,177 new cases yesterday - the 2nd highest recorded. We know they are now not counting their mortalities by the WHO guidelines so we are going to ignore the CMR but even using their method they recorded 492 deaths.

Other notable points:
Global cases pass 48M with the last 1M in 2 days;
Global deaths set a new record high of 9,054, the previous on April 4th;
North America sets a new daily high with 118,248 cases;

Well done Victoria, that's 6 days in a row of 0 cases as of today (05/11/2020). 13,479 tests conducted since yesterday.

NSW is to open the border to VIC at 12:01am on Monday 23 November. I think Daniel Andrews should maybe shut the border to NSW at 11:59 on Sunday 22 November. A couple of minutes before Berejiklian opens the border.

Last thing VIC needs is people from the COVID state of NSW coming to VIC and undoing all our hard work!

Don't worry about NSW as I think QLD is the one to watch with their active case numbers.
Annastacia Palaszczuk is actually doing us big favour by keeping the border closed to stop us getting infected from Queenslanders.
The shoe is on the other foot!

I’m feeling a bit challenged by the Danish initiative to cull their entire mink population per an initiative to stop reinfection of humans with a mutated coronavirus from the mink. 17 million mammals to be destroyed in short order, apparently the army is part of their methodology.

On our local Channel 7 Tasmania News tonight it was quite amazing to see them covering flights of NSW people able to arrive and re unite with family and friends for the first time since March here in Tassie ...Showed some meeting grandkids for the first time .. That's the real human side of what this rotten virus has done to so many of us .

Awesome to those in Victoria despite some regrettable mistakes made from the second outbreak and hardships endured to see it under real control again .Hardship and mistakes or not they have done a great job getting zero cases in almost a week ..Impressive...

When you see the massive threats facing Europe , the USA and other places as we speak , lets learn a lot of lessons from that and not see us as a nation go through the same nightmare in later months..

VIC high court case dismissed too.

It would have been more useful for these to be brought up weeks or months ago.

You would think even a half competent government would have an AG that knows they were on pretty firm if not solid ground.

Any news on when VIC will accept returning travellers from hot zones, to go into hotel quarantine? When that happens, I'd expect the numbers to rise.

I think VIC has now joined the NZ travel bubble, where incoming NZ's don't have to quarantine for 14 days when entering VIC(??)

I think if they are going to start accepting overseas travelers, instead of putting them in hotels in the centre of Australia's 2nd largest capital city they need to send them to Puckapunyal or Bandiana - just a thought

Main problem is Nauru is not Australian soil. It is too far and too small to handle and support thousands of people a week coming back, with turnover every 2 weeks. Basically a bad idea on all fronts.

Got to be better than landing them here spreading the virus.

Some random data:

Only 1 European country hasn't reached a new case high in the last 30 days and that is Ireland which recorded it's high 210 days ago.

Asia has several with more than 100 days since the highest daily total but Singapore (200) and Turkey (209) have had the longest gap.

Africa has none over 200 days with Egypt and the Ivory Coast (both 140 days) the longest.

Neither North or South America have any over 200 either although Ecuador (196) is close and Chile (145) is the next best.

By comparison, Australia is 115 days since the daily peak of 723 in July.
