Dash lights wont work

Hey all the coil packs in my car stopped work so i got a mechanic to fix turns out it was the wiring to the coil packs so fixed all good.
However that night the 6 lights behind the dash that light up the needles no longer work now every other light climate control clock powerwindow lights work even the indicators traction control head lights the only things that wont light up are those 6 lights ive taken the dash out and checked the bulbs and holders and they will light up when put on a 12 volt source just not when plugged into car and headlight switch turned on ive checked fuses and all appear fine any ideas?
