As noted earlier, we are starting to see some differing approaches from the States on how this next phase of the response will look. Here is a quick summary of the present state:

Queensland
From May 1, Queenslanders are able to shop for non-essential items. Picnics and weekend drives are allowed and national parks are open but residents must not travel >50km from their homes and the 2-person rule still applies. Inside the home a household is allowed two additional guests but the border is still effectively closed.

NSW
From 1 May, 2 adults and the children in their care are allowed to visit another person’s home but only for care reasons. Details on how far residents are allowed to travel are still to come. Retails stores are encouraged to open and NSW residents can shop as long as physical distancing can be maintained.

Other than these changes, residents are still required to stay in their homes unless they have a reasonable excuse for leaving - defined as: obtaining food or other goods and services; travelling for the purposes of work or education if the person cannot do it at home; exercise and medical or caring reasons.

Victoria
Pending an upcoming announcement from the Government, the state remains in lockdown. Currently, residents can only leave the house for one of five essential reasons. These are: shopping for food or other essential goods and services; work and education; care and compassionate reasons; exercise and other extenuating circumstances.

The 2-person gathering rules apply in and outside the home. Visits to family members who do not live with them are not allowed but food and supplies can be dropped off for care and compassionate reasons.

Tasmania
Lockdown remains in place with people only allowed to leave their homes for essential reasons and gatherings limited to two people. Reason for Tasmanians to go out in public include: shopping for supplies; personal exercise; attending healthcare appointment; using veterinary services; providing social support or care to another person; attending school or study; attending work or volunteering, if unable to be done at home; performing essential maintenance or security inspections of other premises owned by the person or any other purpose with a reasonable excuse.

Gatherings of more than two people in and outside the home are also forbidden but households are allowed to have two visitors as long as physical distancing requirements can be met.
All non-essential travellers entering the state must quarantine for a period of 14 days.

West Australia
The gathering limits has been raised from 2 to 10 people.Residents are allowed to leave home for recreational activities including picnics, fishing, boating or camping. The maximum number of people at a wedding is raised from 5 to 10. Public playgrounds, skateparks and outdoor gym equipment will remain closed, and restaurants and cafes will still be restricted to takeaway and home delivery.
Internal 'border' restrictions remain in place which divides the state into 9 regions that residents cannot move between without good reason. The State border is under a hard closure.

Australian Capital Territory
Lockdown laws remain in place. There is a two-person gathering limit in public, but in homes, households are allowed up to two additional guests, as long as there is still at least four square metres per person indoors. Residents are urged not to leave their home, except for: ahopping for what you need; healthcare needs; exercise and work / study if it can’t be done remotely.

Northern Territory
From 1 May, outdoor social activities will be allowed to use public swimming pools, go fishing with friends and play non-contact sports like golf or tennis and visit waterparks, as long as safe physical distancing can be observed.
The 10-person gathering limit will be lifted for outdoor weddings and funerals only with an unlimited number of people able to attend as long as physical distancing can still be observed.

From 15 May some indoor activities will also be allowed, as long as they take less than two hours. This includes going to the gym, eating at a cafe or restaurant, visiting a museum or undergoing cosmetic procedures like manicures or tanning. Bars can reopen but alcohol can only be served with a meal. Indoor weddings, funerals and religious activities will also be allowed.

From 5 June all businesses will be allowed to reopen as long as they have a Covid-19 plan. The two-hour limit will be lifted allowing night clubs, cinemas, casinos and others to reopen, however physical distancing must still be observed. All sporting activities will be allowed to restart from 5 June and spectators will be allowed to attend.

The border remains closed and non-essential travellers must self-quarantine in a hotel for a period of 14 days at their own expense.

South Australia

The State never imposed the strict lockdowns seen in other States and the Government has opened schools term two. Gathering in groups is restricted to <1 people and social distancing rules must still be followed. Gatherings with less than 10 people indoors must abide by the one person per four square meters rules. All people entering South Australia are required to undertake a 14-day quarantine.

It's a changing landscape but there is certainly a shift toward relaxation of the lock-down except in NSW and Victoria but with their new case rates trending upward, that probably makes sense.

Who does the narrative that you talk of benefit. It is destroying everything and every government. Nothing good will come of this virus for any part of the globe.

Idiots in politics should be exposed for what they are, power hungry scam artists mostly, like shooting fish in a barrel.

Despite a hard lockdown for 5 weeks, Virginia numbers are on the rise, more testing no doubt but still seems odd, 1400 to over 2k in the last 8 or so days.

Some sort of an anomaly to lockdown works.

Everybody is out of their depth as President.

Trump gets ticks for largely sticking to what he said he would do.

He was way out there on his own in his criticism of China even if he did have wrong reason i.e. trade deficit.

Name another western leader prepared to point out the short comings in dealing with them?

Most of Washington including Biden have got rich dealing with the regime.

To keep on topic

US test duration

Tests Conducted

Rate of testing (#/week)

H1N1 2009 -19 weeks 750,000 <49,000

COVID-19 -6 weeks 5,000,000 >830,000

Russell had some fair criticism of a lack of testing but its worth noting that after encountering the blockages to scaling testing early, the Trump admin was able to over come those problems.

Worth noting that Obama was the first celebrity President with his claim to fame being 1 book and 1 speech before he ran.

50 year lows of unemployment probably something nobody thought his admin would achieve.

Trolling is easy to determine for mine. Example:

Fact - "Standing in front of cars will kill you"
Troll - "Says who? The deep-state govmint? Well they would say that wouldn't they. The CIA has been transmitting 5G to make people stand in front of cars for years. There are numerous YouTube videos from experts that prove that cars will pass through you at the optimal speed, blah, blah, blah."

So, on that basis, I eliminate certain sectors like 'vaxers, moon landers, JFK-er's etc. They have no factual basis to their arguments so I can cancel them out of hand. They have a right to state their opinion but they have no right to be heard.

Simples.

What's going on in VIC??

It's getting a bit silly. Is this VIC's version of NSW's Ruby Princess diaries?

Just when you thought restrictions were about to be relaxed.

I don’t care, I just look at dumb people that are attached to some stupid wacko indoctrination that is linked to political hate, not bipartisan support of people’s well being and lives.

I don’t care about Obama, I don’t care about Hillary, I just laugh at the most incompetent leader the western world has seen.

Not sure if this was mentioned here, but just got off the phone with a mate who's on the pension and he was able to access 10k of his super. Probably can apply to people unemployed etc too. He said you do it via the MyGov website and link it to the ATO.

Carry on.

The stats on what’s being said seems to be loaded onto the financial incentive as to payments to the hospital while the US Government is picking up the tab in relation to the virus.

Doctors being ignored, I guess you could theorise the same incentive but only post Covid review will likely clear that up.

Puppeteer?

From the disgruntled nursing staff, they seem to be suggesting hospital administrators.

In reverse, what would these people have to gain by speaking out about the very industry that they work in?

Владимир Владимирович? That’s drawing a long bow.

Aside from that...

The clients of mine who’ve been in a fortnight of forced quarantine (in Oz) were gobsmacked that CV testing was not a mandatory part of their isolation process. You wonder at the logic of this.

Name one other reasonably high profile politician anywhere that was publicly or on the campaign trail critical or concerned with China in the last 5 years.

Would you agree on the issue of China he was at least ahead of the curve?

Modellers say that if China had of done the right thing 95% of the cases could have been prevented. (this may change as they find earlier cases)

If you can't name one politician worried about China it seems to me that your charge of him being incompetent is just hyperbole or just repeating what the MSM tells you.

Take into consideration that there is still a decent chunk of people strictly getting their news from:

Channel 7/9/10/SBS/ABC
Sun/age/Australian
CNN/BBC/CBS/MSNBC etc.

Apart from a few exceptions I haven't read/watched those outlets in about 4 years.

When all is said and done, they will be the ones screaming conspiracy theory, witch hunt, fake news to get a political rival out of the race.

These people are so far behind in the race they actually think they're in the lead.

Has anyone else noticed that their car doesn't get as dirty from fall out ect, after you wash it since the Covid Lockdowns? It stays cleaner longer.

I don’t need to name anything.

I don’t care about modellers.

I don’t care about MSM. Who are they, what are they ?

The Australian leaders have done a good job here, and I’m proud of their leadership with this pandemic 👍

I don’t care about China mate, you seem to have some sort of love thing with your leader Donald Trunp.

Good luck with that 👍
