the I6 in the little TRP Corolla would be fun Quote:
Joe considered doing one for the Capri after we checked out the old Envy Dyno Falcon. but, he likes the V8's. i think a 1200-1500hp 4L I6 wouldn't drive as well on the street as the 4L V8 equivalent. not sure that the I6 could take the punishment the V8 does. Toyota overengineers it's parts big time. we still use alot of factory parts on the V8, parts that have to be upgraded in the I6. |

lil inside joke there Phil, we were told by a few people that a car needs 90/10 shocks to run 8's, and that it can't drive on the street as it would flip we found it funny considering Joe runs 60/40's so we made a lil video and posted it on youtube. |

we need to get the car prepared for Sydney Jambo, the track last year was awesome, we broke the gearbox on it though, the box was only built to handle 800hp, noone imagined it would do 100 passes with over 1000hp. gearbox guy would ring after every meet, did the box break yet? |

At Jambo in Qld I raced in Modified Compact. Was a pretty good field. Picked up my tyres today fitted with drag tubes now so I can control the tyre pressures better. Will make life a heap easier. Now just some sunshine for Saturday and I will be a happy man. Am getting married in two weeks, so will only have a couple more meets before Sydney Jambo in me....

Hey Paulie, do you think the Envy/DLM guys will make it out to the track by Jambo?
The new combo sounds tuff, so am keen to see it run.

tubes should make it a bit more stable in the deep end as well, being on the heavier side its always good. from what Spiro from DLM was saying they will be testing in Sydney (not sure when) and then taking it to Jambo QLD for a big hitout. has a big Precision turbo, Spiro didn't give exact specs apart from big from the looks of it i'm thinking it's about an 1800hp turbo |

Bummer. Doesn't look that promising for Saturday either I'd say. we will see. There is always hope.
Should be interesting to see how the DLM car goes. Might have to check out a precision turbo at some point myself...

Precision is definitely the way to go for a drag racing turbo, they spend time doing R&D for drag cars. Borg Warner, Garrett etc are more focused on the street cars. Spiro loves the Ford 4L I6's im sure he'd love to have you run a Precision Turbo on there he is a very smart guy when it comes to turbo cars, im not just saying that because he sponsors us, im not the type of guy that would do that just to get a set of turbo's. i have turbo's already for my car, i didn't need them. when asked i have always recommended Precision Turbo to people. the GT42R's i have are a great turbo, but, i honestly believe the Precisions will be a better match for us. we will be getting some for the Capri this year also, Joe wants mid 7's i reckon a Pro Mod PT94 would look good in there Last edited by prasac; 09-02-2012 at 11:31 PM. |

I might have to drop Spiro a line and see if he's interested in supporting. I am always cognizant though that he may not want to support multipple teams all chasing the one prize. Hey - you never know.... Plenty of good advertising potential I would love to take the taxi into the 7's thats for sure. It definitely needs a diet before that is likely to happen though..... I have signed up for tomorrow. Im not hopeful it will pan out based on the weather over night out west, but if not then FTF next week. Time will tell...

people who say gt42 + i6 is a good setup for street are like old greek arrogant men. They live with the LAG when a GTX series is so much better.
GT42 is so 2005 :P Would love to see a PT turbo upgrade on a stock t3 flange for us who dont want to change much! DML should get something made up. Good for 600rwkw with full boost by 3500rpm and no lag. Am I dreaming?? :( lol

he loves drag racing, i think he is the type of guy that doesn't matter what team your from or if it would conflict with him, he is still willing to help. i might go out and watch on Saturday, though if its too nice a day i might go drink somewhere on the waterfront Quote:
bit of headwork, cam, good converter, E85 and a good tune a GT42R can work on the street. we chopped and changed my GT42R's to make them as good for my engine as possible. 75mm turbine wheel instead of 82mm, smaller than normal housing. T4 .91 instead of T4 1.01 etc etc. not sure how it will work, the future will tell. the brother's 4L has 2 XR6T turbo's on it, starts to spool at around 3500rpm, by 6200rpm it's got 30psi. it can drive awesome on the street and do low 8-sec passes at the track. you work out the right combo and it will work fine.
