You don't think so? I think it looks a lot 'tougher' than the previous models, it's boxier, the front styling looks more aggressive and the car overall has some real mecha vibes. I wouldn't be surprised if the designers were manga or anime fans

Maybe I'm just an old fuddy duddy but what's wrong with two cup holes infront of the centre console? No moving parts, no wearing out, no fancy pantsy retractable plastic. |

It's all personal preference, my LSA Maloo's clutch I had prior to the Fiesta was livable and not 'that' heavy For me it's engagement with the car, no matter the vehicle, every little thing more the car does for itself lessens that connection while i understand modern auto's are brilliant and have driven a ton of them. But have to accept that they're a near dead breed. Least the manuals are still available in the bi-turbo option. And there is some indication they've finessed the 10 speed auto in the new range, hopefully they've got that smack on now. Won't stop me ordering the V6. Priorities!!!!

I just want to put it out there, that what you've just seen, and what will be revealed over the next few months, is the result of the biggest program that Ford Australia has ever run! In fact, globally for Ford Motor Company this is most likely the biggest most complex program ever. Only transit comes close to the market coverage and body style options of the T6 platform and they don't have anywhere near our powertrain complexity
Just to put it into perspective, this program is the same size as PX1, PX2, PX3 and Everest combined big up to the Ford Australia team and our global partners who made this happen. |

I am just imagining the discussions in the Toyota exuctives we’re having this morning.
What a V6 you say, full time 4WD you say, rear discs you say , a 12 incher display… |

Manual diesels are awful, doesn't matter how much power and torque they have.

Yeh they don’t. I’m yet to see one broken in the 16 years the hilux has had them. It’s not a spring loaded part. Pull out and it’s there Having them there on the dash is way better ergonomics also. The new bt50 and dmax are nearly identical besides the Mazda not having those cup holders. That would sway my decision Annnnd. Most tradies use the centre console cup holders as more storage |

Nothing wrong with a good trans cooler if your working them hard on the limit frequently. Or you have been shafted by a good old trans milkshake in the past.

Lucky you. Point still stands. Cup holders there are premium cup holders. One of them has 300000km. At that point a cup holder would be the least broken thing |

Love the trim, shifter, instrument screen, not a fan of the vertical screen.
Love the V6 option and step on the rear quarters, still cant take to the F series look though. Will sell in big numbers no doubt. |

Overall, I think they have done a great job with the new Ranger. And they listened, everyone wanted a V6 and they delivered. I also love the thought that has gone into the tailgate and rear "box-step".
I think the new design works best on the Sport and Wildtrack. As mentioned, the dial on the center console is the drive mode selector - One thing I'm not liking is the move to a digitized gear selector - These things can be confusing. I don't see the point of re-designing a ergonomic and universally recognized design for something like this. My biggest question though is, what does Toyota do from here? Do they offer the Landcruiser's engine in the Hilux to compete? Hilux and Landcruiser have never shared an engine before, so I'm interested in seeing what they do. Although, it seems Prado is looking like getting a V6 again - https://www.carexpert.com.au/car-new...esel-v6-report

hmm V6 TD Prado would be great, the 2.8 is a little underpowered.. one would guess the Hilux would be in line for it also

Well a lot of people like to call them Trucks, now they can pretend they have a RoadRanger gearbox

It's odd they haven't gone for the same style of electronic shifter as focus/escape. Why pretend like it still needs an actual shifter??

I’ve not driven a focus or escape, in the case of the ranger and your towing a heavy van or boat, if you want to lock out gears 7-10, it’s quite easy (well using the same buttons on the current Bi-Turbo is) without said shifter I assume you’d be 100% relying on the drive mode to default not to go into ratios you want to stay away from?
