Both (AVSD).
She's doing much better now - when she's not asleep, she complains incessantly, wanting to be picked up and cuddled. What a little fighter.

It *is* rather sobering to see videos like that.

Latest update: My wife will be staying overnight at RCH to breastfeed Christa on demand. The docs will observe how well she feeds, and if they are satisfied, she can go home tomorrow. We're all stoked.

Excellent news. It's the little ones who make life worthwhile, and their basic needs for food, sleep and love remind us all just how caught up we can get in the BS of day to day life. Your story Fled and that of Christa and her improvements has been rather sobering. At the risk of sounding trite I'd like to add; to all you mums and dads on the forums, hug and love your kids.

Okay, hopefully this will be the last time I have to post a thread like this.

Christa has been home for six days now and is doing brilliantly. She was on painkillers for the first few days but she seems to need it less now (she doesn't cry from the soreness as often as she did earlier on).
Her chest is healing very well and we're taking her back to RCH tomorrow to get the sutures removed.

Here's a pic of her on surgery day, Tuesday 7 Sept (very distressing to look at)

And here she is a couple of days ago, licking her lips after a good breastfeed.

She's got an amazing strength in her.

Again, I have to thank the great people at RCH, and the amazing support and kind words from the people on AFF, both in this thread and via PM. It would have been so much harder to deal without you guys and gals.
Heartfelt thanks from my family and I.

great to see Christa looking so good

it is amazing how the little ones bounce back

Great work from Christa and the great staff at R.C.H

Part of the reason a cruise like this one should be supported
