It affects people differently. I have pretty dramatic mood swings, Im either feeling depressed or really happy. I can talk a lot of crap to people and not know what im talking about, loss of concentration at work, and some people have said Ive become a little paranoid.

i gave up a week and 2 days ago lol

i wasnt what you would call a full time smoker, but id go through atleast 1-2 packs a week, but if i was on holidays, fishing or playing golf or with mates, id do a pack in a few hours.
i have bad sinus problems so that helped in stopping.

had my first real test with a nite on the p1ss with mates who smoke. i brought some beef jerky and had a piece everytime i wanted one.

still clean

Its Wednesday, day three now and man I'd kill for a smoke. I know what you mean about losing your breath. I swear I feel 20 years older than I am. But they (everyone I know who has quit for good) tell me the 1st 10 days are hardest and gets easier from there. Best of luck with quiting the coffin nails

Cold turkey.
2.5yrs ago.
add on radio about emphasimer (take a breath, and now take a little more) it got to me.
Threw them out, haven't gone back since.
3 months ago the Mrs gave up cold turkey too, it was 2 years of hell for her as I turned into a smoke nazi as my senses could smell everything. so she was told she stank everyday, and when she covered up with perfume, I whinged more!

Both agree, its bloody easy. its just the motions and the traffic lights that make it hard.

However I did have a head start, I made a promise to myself I wouldn't smoke at work. only on the way in and out and only in the garage at home.

then i figured hey, 8hours at work, 8 hours sleep... wtf am I smoking for?

I got Champix last week, and am on the 7th day of tablets. Still smoking, but friday is my "stop smoking" day - the tablets seem to be working, as most of my cravings are gone, so it's just habit smoking most of the day; I'm confident I can give up with this help (after 23 years of smoking). Will keep an eye on this thread and let you know how it goes.

I gave up 10yrs ago, only smoked for 7-8yrs but fairly heavily.
Woke up one morning with a really sore throat and decided that was enough.
Still had 10 or so left in the packet, considered putting them away just in case but decided it would just be too convenient.
Screwed em up, in the bin.

Haven't smoked since, but have no probs being around smokers or even lighting one for someone, no more than one puff though and i dont inhale.

I also believe you must be ready mentally to quit, that the mere thought to continue smoking is unpleasant.

Once you've had your intended last one, keep track of the time and tell yourself if you have another you'll have wasted all that clean time.
It worked for me, i got to about my 5th day before i wanted to 'punch a hole a the bank safe' but i thought bugger that, i've been clean for this long i'm not starting again.
That was it.

What side of Melbourne?
I went to Whole Mind Strategies in Dandenong, couldn't be happier.
There are heaps around, some even with guarantees.

Hows everyone going with this?

Smoked for many years, gave up using the patches then 18months later I stupidly took it up again. Tried the patches, gum, cold turkey and champix...nothing worked until I had hypnotherapy. I was the biggest skeptic of it, thinking it was all a load of BS.

Well it's Day 4 for me and the biggest problem I have is distracting myself when I go to reach for a smoke but it's getting easier and less every day. Compared to every other time I have tried to quit this has been so different.
