Brisbane Airport is Still under according to their website:
Brisbane Airport is currently still open and operating despite the king tide at 1.30pm. Reports on Sky News and Twitter that Brisbane Airport is closing are inaccurate and should be disregarded.

Both Domestic and International Terminals are operating with flights are still landing and departing on schedule.

Brisbane Airport Corporation is confident the International and Domestic terminals will be able to continue operations as normal, despite unprecedented rain and water levels.

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) will continue to monitor water levels across the airport due to king tides expected at 1.30pm today and 2.15pm tomorrow.

For further information on flight schedules, passengers should contact their airlines direct.

Brisbane Airport will continue to update the website www.bne.com.au as the week progresses.

Coolangatta is also open according to their website and up to date flight schedules, however as one can imagine both airports are experiencing delays on some flights.

I've spent a large part of the day trying to contact my kids. One is on the Gold Coast, the other was sent home from work in the CBD at lunch time. Guys, make sure you know where all of your people are and please make sure they don't tell you (like one of mine did) that they are going out to pick up a boogie board.I think from what we are seeing, there is absolutely no humour in this anywhere.

That looks like Guyatt Park ferry terminal.

I can confirm that the airport is open, it's business as usual.

Yeah airport still open.
Alot of chaos in the outta northern suburbs. Caboulture, Morayfield, Burpengary evacd earlier.
Some of my staff left early today only to get stuck unable to go anywhere, 2 were stuck on upper level carparks unable to leave. One staff members brothers new car was washed into the river.
Some of our stores were closed and alot of staff unable to get to work and in some instances unable to get home. I have a mate that lives in Bulimba on the Brisbane river and its looking at going under tommorrow
Have never seen anything like this.
As much as i dislike Anna Bligh, i dont envy her and wouldnt want to be in her shoes

Dazzler is right - all reports are pointing north of 5.5m but "probably" less than the 8m reached in the 1800's.

Here a link to the flood maps for Brisbane before the BCC website went down. These are computer modeled predictions for each suburb. Not sure if BCC website is back up or not. This link was posted on the QLD Police Facebook Page.

I'm not good with Brissy geography. I have relo's over with the parents in Sydney. Some are from Clayfield and the others near Toombul shopping centre.

Anything happening in those areas? I remember both houses being on high ground.

Half flew from Brissy, half drove. Will need to keep an eye on this as they are expecting to return at the end of the week.

Keep safe and lets hope no more lives are lost.

There is a street/s in Clayfield that have flooded and it is right in the middle of one of Brisbane's best flood plains. Check www.brisbane.gov.au and there is a suburb-by-suburb map of potential overland water paths.

Toombul is pretty much next door and is very low-lying, well worth checking as suburbs around this area will get wet.

no theclem 7 is not shut for repairs but it maybe shut due to not enough staff.
I have not. been able to speak to him tonight but my brother in law told me early that they need a certon number of staff on duty for safty and this look like it would not happen. As one of the safety and operations managers of the tunnel it is his job to make sure it is safe and as such without staff this can not be done so that would be whyy it would be shut.

ENERGEX crews will start switching off electricity to many parts of Brisbane’s CBD from 7 am tomorrow (Wednesday 12 January 2011) for safety reasons.

The electricity sub-stations are mainly in buildings close to the Brisbane River which is expected to reach near record levels during the next few days.

The ENERGEX crews will inspect the sub-stations after tomorrow afternoon’s peak high tide to assess the amount of damage and to determine the re-energisation timetable.

Other areas in Brisbane and Ipswich are also being closely monitored by ENERGEX to determine whether or not electricity will be turned off.

These areas are primarily those identified by Brisbane City Council flood mapping along the Brisbane and Bremer Rivers and their tributaries.

The outages could impact approximately 100,000 customers with restoration times dependent on the rate that floodwaters recede and the amount of damage caused to electrical equipment.

Similar safety plans were implemented by ENERGEX earlier this week in Gympie.

More information about flood prone areas can be found on the Brisbane City Council and Ipswich City Council websites.

ENERGEX is also urging people with medical conditions that rely on electrical-powered equipment, as well as refrigerated medications, to keep in close contact with their medical practitioner and seek advice.

At 5pm there were 22,000 homes and businesses without supply in South East Queensland.

ENERGEX spokesman, Mike Swanston, said safety was the key issue during extreme weather and thanked South East Queenslanders for their patience while crews were working in trying conditions to get supplies back on.

“No one should never underestimate the old adage that power and water don’t mix, and as water continues to rise ENERGEX will be taking a safety first approach under these extreme weather conditions,” Mr Swanston said.

“Similarly, as the weather worsens over night, power interruptions caused by winds blowing tree branches onto powerlines and other extreme conditions are expected to continue.

“But we ask customers to remain patient as our crews work around the clock in the in heavy rains and high winds.”

ENERGEX is also asking any customers who see damaged or threatened power infrastructure to stay well clear and to call ENERGEX’s priority line on 13 19 62.

The public is also being urged to keep out of flood waters near any electrical equipment and stay away from fallen powerlines
