I think they were masked up today. Certainly the police officer and another dude standing beside him were both masked up when Gladys was speaking.
Heard some epidemiologist on ABC just now say the next couple of days could see numbers go to 50, then 130 around Christmas day IF people don't follow the "guidelines". Then those infected on Christmas day will be at their peak of infectioness on NYE. It will be really interesting to see if this localised lock down works. |

Data valid as at 23:59 GMT December 19th, 2020.
Note: As not all Australian States report at the same time, the data below is based on the previous full day reporting. 34 new cases for Australia and 0 deaths so the CMR is 3.228%. NSW recorded 30 cases, Vic & the NT recorded 2 each and Queensland recorded 1. No new cases and no deaths for NZ so CMR is 1.185% and active cases 51. The UK had a lower 27,502 cases yesterday and 534 deaths. Just over 254.5k new cases in the USA yesterday and 2,794 deaths sees CMR drop to 1.794% and active cases at 40.1% with the raw numbers rising and now over 7.1M. Note that the USA is actually minus one day due to time differences. Other notable points: (it being a weekend again) Global cases pass 76M with the last 1M in 2 days; Europe passes 21M cases; The USA passes 18M cases; The UK passes 2M cases; Russia passes 50k deaths; North America sets a new daily high with 279,602 cases (18/11); The USA completes 232M, India 160M, Canada 13M and Kenya 1M tests. Very short sighted to stop the Sydney to Hobart Race.
All they had to do was make one small change to the race and turn left outside the Heads instead of right. Going to Hobart the long way they all would have had more than 14 days of isolation when they eventually got there.

Is the ADF being used for political games again? Vic had to make 3 requests to the feds for an additional 300 ADF to help. When the calls were finally answered, they are offered 50! WTF?
There are thousands of people trying to flee Syd, the road borders are the biggest risks, but they won't help with vehicle checkpoints either. WTF? "He also requested 200 to 300 ADF troops, but Canberra sources said the Morrison government had not responded to his request on Sunday evening, and it could take two or three days to assess the need. If it leaks into Vic, there is going to be hell to pay. Kudos to airlines for cancelling some flights. The last 2 days has seen 3000 people from Sydney enter Melb EACH day. |

Minister Hazard going off about 'vaxer/flat-earthers who write down "Mickey Mouse" or "Donald Duck" in the QR registers. Also asking venues to use the NSW Health QR app, because some providers aren't coughing up the data when asked to.

Meanwhile...
Victorian hotel quarantine inquiry report unable to determine who made private security decision The final report from the inquiry into Victoria's botched hotel quarantine program has been unable to determine who commissioned the use of private security and has slammed the Andrews Government for failing to do "proper analysis" of the plan. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-12-...eased/13002882 |

Now there's a surprise. So we spent $10M on the inquiry and $192M on the hotel quarantine program and that's all we get for it. I could have reported the same result 3 months ago (in fact I did) for nix.

As has been mentioned, that was a direct quote from the ABC with a link, not FairmontGS's personal opinion.
