OK, here something from left feild, its very hard to tell what it acutally is, but one of the pics could be a wagon (or just extra panels to fool the eye). Therefore it could be the equally elusive VE Sportswagons first spy shots.

In 1984, a clay EA model without badges was shown in a clinic in Germany, and its styling was preferred overall to that of a then current BMW 5 series, Mercedes 190, Renault 25... and even the Audi 100, which some viewers thought the EA was the replacement for. Overall, the EA series was an honest showcase of world-class Australian talent.

All I can say though is that I hope they have got fillers to confuse people because the basic shape looked kinda not great, but very sharp edges resembling the new 5 series BMW. Had the twin lights still although these might be again just to confuse.

So just keep an eye out on out of the way country roads.
I think you may have spotted the Renault Laguna they're currently testing in Australia:

Wow, that is so hard to see what it looks like. With the bra's and all that aswell as the distance of the shot.

Bit hard to comment. My initial reaction was VX or some sort of Commodore.

Thanks for posting though!

I think it's the real deal, and that Ford will be really trying hard to disguise their test cars with all sorts of stick on false panels & covers.

The camera is just too far away to get a good picture - I'm sure there will be some coming of the cars when they get out and about (but they'll be covered to the nth degree).

I'm not going to say one way or the other, it looks similar but it was pretty well covered up.

Although I don't recall it having a glass roof and the back wasn't quite that swept back, also no side covers on the one I saw and the bras seemed to be a much better fit like they were actually made for the car, these seem to be just cruedly put together.

It may have been, doon't know, but I'm on the road enough that I might see it again, hopefully this time with the phone cam at the ready LOL, if I snap it I'll be sure to post the pics.

They were taken at the proving grounds...so I'd imagine they're real. Or at least not shots of the VX:

Good to see the photographer spying on the proving ground facility. I’m sure you will be able to get better pictures with the car being currently tested on the open roads. ;)

Ford security are doing a great job if someone can get that close to the test track. Photos too far away for me to tell for sure but I wouldn't discount it.

Don't stress, it doesn't look like the VE, it actually looks good.

You know if the ford bretheren were that desperate to get spyshots, you could always just take to the air. I remember the VE got busted before launch in what looked to be aerial shots.

Could it simply be that ford allowed renault to test their laguna at their track?
I mean, they may have hired it to renault for some protected low speed testing ie the witches hats etc?

Which does happen a lot. Its not entirely possible that it is or isn't Orion, still the pics are not worth getting excited about.

The mules for orion have been built, so this is possible. But seriously the pics look like crap and I cant tell if it is orion or not. Whats funny was that Ford had a BF running around with an Orion front end mid last year and no one worked it out (did have a massive car bra on it).
Oh and Orion dosn't look like a VT/VX commodore.

Its definately a Orion, the headlights match those that Ford was using on their website a while ago, very much like a Monaro/audi headlight with the rounded indicator part.

I don't think so, look at the seam on the roof. The Renault has a wide seam cover as apposed to the spy pic that has a narrow seam cover, similar to the VE Commodore. Another thing is the large flared front guards in the spy pic are more like VE as well. I thought that I read something from one of the more reliable sources here (if there is such a thing) that the guards will be shaped a bit, but not as pumped as the VE.

It has a fairly similar stance to the VE (not that the Orion will not) so I think it is an old spy pic of an HSV, the spy pic itself might not be as new as we think. More info needed.

It could be the new Falcon... the guards aren't as pumped as the VE. There looks to be a small boot lid if you squint hard. The shape of the roof is vaguely Mondeo-like... but probably too early to tell yet... promising though... should be plenty more soon...

If these are the first pictures, amazing. Lets hope that some high Quality spy shots come out soon...

Would it be wrong to go looking for the features in the photo over Lang Lang and You Yangs via Google earth? you may be able to work out some level of detail to see if it is correct...?

Maybe that could prove or disprove where the photos were taken?

A couple of other things:

That black car in the pictures on that webiste, seems to be a Camry?? It looks like it has a Camry grille on it, unless it is another mule all bra'd up.

The white car has some sort of detail on the front guards, like a flute or vent, like the VE does. Does the Orion have these? If not, then it could be some VE variant.

Certainly the size and stance of the white car is Falcon-ish. But the bonnet/guard line is much higher than the beltline? What's up with that, it looks stupid.

Have a look at the pumped up guards and the shape of the camo profile arround the headlights...
I think the rest of it is actually structual as well as colour camo...

I recieved an email with these pics, and more, from a contact. He assures me that they are a ford, although I am not convinced. He aslo says that the photo's were definately taken at the You Yang facility.

I reckon late May we will be treated to some much better shots. We just need to be patient.

OBJ.

Not sure if I'm seeing things, but it looks like the wipers are on the right hand side of the windscreen and sweep to the left as in a LHD car. RHD cars have the wipers going left to right.

If you read the link it says Bushland in VIC around gelong and the pics arn't too good so it gives you a small hint nothing more. I think ford may have used some decent cam if you can call it cam) I still think i will be surprised by the way the "orion" fleet looks ... that is either for bad or good

Interesting pic tho. Keeps us guessing!

I hope it is for good, as we so need this to be a winner. I am still not convinced that this is Orion though.
