My wife is supportive of my passion for all things Ford except merchandise in the house She likes driving her Subaru Liberty AWD & she likes the power of the Ford's V8. She doesn't get spending more than $15k on any car for any reason as a good low k 2nd hand car is sufficient & argues by waiting for a couple of years, the problems become apparent. I'm still trying to convince her a AC Cobra replica is only $15k... She understands me looking for the safest carpark to avoid dents etc but thinks its a bit precious; in other words, why buy it if you can't drive it? My answer is that's why we have the Subaru!

My wife enjoys cars as much as I do, she came to the first 10 summernats, has been to loads of car shows, and V8 races at Winton, Phillip Island, Sandown, Adelaide and Bathurst,.
And now my kids are into cars too.

My partner/girlfriend isn't a car gal,but she gets that it's my release from work and that I'd go crazy without a bit of bloke time and getting my hands dirty with the radio in the background. I'm actually happy she respects that I need this time and gives me the freedom to do my stuff and she does hers, wouldn't have it any other way. I think it keeps our relationship really healthy and we get together and share what's been going on. But I'm slowly getting her into cars, she saw a nice Boss 302 Mustang cruise past one day and every blokes head turned and looked, not just car guys, every bloke. She laughed and said it was like Miss Universe had just ran down the street naked...actually I think the Mustang got more attention, but after seeing what goes on she now gets the work and time that goes into this old stuff and really respects it and what guys can do with their hands, which is great. A few car guy mates other halves have also given her the drum on what it's all about now which also helped a lot.

I keep getting caught by my 'Partner' checking out the wheels on cars.
she elbows me, usually in the ribs and says she saw me checking out the 20's on that one that just went past!
and she's right. she has her things, I have mine, as long as the renovations are finished and the space is useable and I spend time with them regularly, I do my share of parenting, I had my shed...bigger than the house, I was allowed to play into the nights and one day a weekend.
Sometimes she does claim to be a race car widow thought!

Bit stuck on BAs traded a BA XR6 ute on BA XR8 ute then the XR8 ute on a BA GTP which i love i just miss all the practical stuff that goes with the ute,we have a little Mitsi hatchback for running about/work etc but am looking to buy another BA XR6 ute for everyday stuff, theres only the two of us + a Border Collie (reckon he misses the ute to) As far as the driving i prefer the 8 over the 6 but for a daily it will be the 6.

Mine loves them, the major buying criteria for her last car, had to be SUV format but needed to have an attitude when driven and sub 5.5 sec 0-100, cause it had to be faster than her territory turbo she had. Kind of really left only a Jeep SRT as the option, the Euro's were double the price and the SQ5 etc were just bit too small for a family of 5 that does lots of klms

When we met my wife wasn't particulary interested in any cars, however with time she has come around and will now tell me what she does and doesnt like, can distingush particular models and shows enough interest to come to the odd car show or event without complaint and pass comment/listen to my thoughts. She loves her car and takes care of it well, and is happy for me to do whatever with mine as she knows thats my hobby and what makes me happy.

I don't think some of my mates wifes/girlfriend don't give toss about what car they drive as long as it's a big ugly late model 4wd or SUV type thing with the right badge to go with their image of having the latest and greatest of everything.

My better half loves her utes, when she had the 5 litre VS manual ute she took it out on the burnout pad a couple times and smashed tyres, competed in the Deni ute muster circlework Comp in 2014, the year I won it! She didn't like it when I won and she didn't! She'd always been a Holden Chick until that 5 litre started having lots of problems costing a fair bit, so she sold it planning to get a BA xr8 ute since she had seen how much punishment I put mine through without any problems! She had a respect for the V8 falcon until I got her to drive mine up the road flat out so i could hear it from the outside, when she decided it was time to slow down the brake pedal went to the floor! I think it's probably more of a case of "what does my car think of my partner"... She is determined it wanted to kill her for driving it! So now she doesn't like it.... :( She has a 2013 VE SV6 auto ute now... :(

My wife to be thinks that cars are good to drive to get somewhere. Her dad in England told her that she should always have a Ford, but she didn't follow that. She offered up her Subaru Impreza for me to use as a trade in on a 6sp manual FG X Turbo Ute, and said she'd be happy to drive my 2013 Triton Dualcab as her own.

Three months on, she's happy in the Triton, I'm happy in the FG X! She drove the Falcon on the weekend and came back saying how nice it is to drive, but she appreciates how I see vehicles differently to her.

I told her about a local car club I'd found out about, and she asked me if I'd sent in my membership application. No wonder I'm marrying her!

Have never owned a BF but logic would say that any problems with the BA should have been remedied when they built the BF ie the auto trans etc etc,in saying that ive not had a problem with the auto in the 3 BAs ive owned.Never owned an AU either but have to say after looking through the "show us your AU" thread theres some bloody nice looking ones out there,if i come across an AU ute with good kms will certainly consider it.Yep purely economics with the choice of the 6 for a daily for my money the XR6 is good on gas and pretty near bullet proof.Fwiw came across my old XR6 ute a few years ago so stopped and took a pic, someone was giving it some loving, nice to see it still in good nick.Wtf one of the XR8 ute as well.
