In the video it looks like the alternator remains in its original position. What do others think? That would save some cost if I am right. What is the clearance between the s/charger pulley and bonnet, Chris? Is it a dual accessory belt system and is the original throttle body used?

I am sure that one of those will just bolt straight on to my car :P Well... maybe not, a version for the 6 would be fantastic though.:sm_drool: Boss owners are going to be lined up outside Bluepower tomorrow to place their orders. Love your work Chris.

This blower kit owes itself to the engineering expertise of Paul Maksacheff of AAV industries. Paul is a gun fabricator, who originally turned up literally on my doorstep with a 1.8 eaton mounted on his car, and he required a tune. Much of what i saw needed some re-engineering and improvement - but for the most part, i saw some real genius in his work. 1 - Throttle body stock - plumbed into stock airbox. I liked this, as people who purchased aftermarket airboxes can still put them to good use. 2 - SINGLE BELT ACCESSORY DRIVE - with outstanding belt wrap on the top pulley. 3 - Efficient intercooler setup - Paul fabricates his own intercooler core, and the intake temps are unbelievable!! After speaking to Paul, I thought the best thing to do would be to pull the thing apart and check it out. Again, paul had done a pretty good job - I went about re designing the plenum and ports for correct CSA and contour, then i had to tool up to get it on a flowbench, which we did. Pretty soon after, the blower kit with a baby 1.8 Eaton on top delivered the first 10 sec pass in Australia. The potential of these kits is enormous. You can put a GM6/71 on it, 1.8 eaton right through to a 3.3 whipple, however research has shown us that we have the best pump for the job on the case in the Kenne Bell. Whilst its not the cheapest (we can save over 1200 per kit using a whipple) after seeing this, i wouldn't use a whipple. Ive used both now, and i know what i like. Hope this paints a broader picture. Chris

sorry mate - alternator does stay in the stock location. Paul and I have put over 2.5 years into this project, from tuning to engineering, re-engineering, hitting dead ends, and having some real wins. And I like winning. Im tempted to install prototype3 onto my stock290 for the AFF drag day. I did read the article mate, thanks for that - my father read it over my shoulder, and he heard about you back in the day. I saw a grin on dad's face when he saw the car. You blokes would get on great!! Chat soon mate Chris PS - give me a call re the ring gaps in your engine. |

[QUOTE=The Old Hoon]What is the clearance between the s/charger pulley and bonnet.QUOTE]
A 6lb pulley only just fits under the bonnet, being so large in diameter. It's got approx 12mm clearance with the belt in place. There is a bonnet support directly above the pulley, so it's tight with the 6lb pulley. Any other pulley fitted will be smaller (for higher boost applications), so the clearance will be greater. Regards AGRO. |

I can here the conversation that guys will be making to their partners already- Husband- "I think it might tap on the bonnet love, its better off if we get that 12psi pully instead of the 6 pound one" Wife- " Oh, Ok then sweety, But whats a pulley got to do with that funny looking radiator thing that came in the box from Bluepower?' Husband- "Thats no radiator love, thats an INTERCOOLER, its short name for the "INTERIOR COOLER" to make the air conditioner work more efficiently, for those long trips. it will make riding in the car more comfortable, just for you!" Wife- 'WOW, you bought that thing thinking about my comfort! And all this time i thought you couldnt give a F A R K about me and were wasting too much time and money on that car. You really are the best husband in the world! Let me make it up to you with some SEXY TIME!!!!' : : : : : : : : :

Don't be sorry about the alternator being in it's original spot....... I think that is good engineering. Much better than the Y/T. I will ring you re the ring gapping....much appreciated. I will also talk to you about your fuel pump mod that we discussed earlier this year, too. How far away are the finished kits including the intercooler. Kenne Bell seem to suggest on their site that an intercooler is less necessary with their supercharger compared to other brands. Talk to you soon. Cheers, Ian. |

Hi Chris,
Awesome kit mate. Hey I remember the advice you gave me about SC's when I was there last week .... but.... how easy is it to fit the inter-cooler later? Once you have the kits sorted I will ring you about $$$numbers. I feel another drive to Melbourne coming on. Cheers Norm.... |
