It will most likely be the 351kw supercharged motor across the whole V8 FPV range from next year, AFAIK there is no 5.8 litre version.

There's no HO in the making either. They have discussed it but have no plans to make it as of yet.

You are probably right as Wheels do print alot of propaganda, usually in Holdens favour, but we will have wait and see. Unless you work in the coyote developement section at FOMOCO and have the good sauce.

You know what will happen if FPV launch the 351KW blown donk and it out guns the HSV V8's, it will be shot down in seconds by the millions of bogan Holden followers. The excuse will be "yeah but chuck on a blower on the LS and see what happens" which would be true but the difference in capacity of 1.3litres between donks will somewhat be overlooked as it has been for years gone by

I hope FPV label it 300kw and its faster and quicker than the current HSV's....Some of you are far too focused on badges...
Advertised numbers are becoming less and less relevant.

Just look at Corvette v Mustang, if my memory serves me right, the LS3 6.2ltr Blown Corvette has 476kw and 5.4ltr Blown Shelby Mustang produces 514kw but no drive train warranty. .8ltr difference and the numbers go to Ford. Add the blower and let the party begin. Remember these cars are the top of the range and not the common day ride.

I think this is what will start happening. Much like the Jap cars and the 206kw "gentlemans agreement". We all know that alot of those cars were putting out more than that. Even the old HO was rated around 220kw but was closer to 300.
If HSV and FPV start putting big numbers on there regular models and continously keep going up then old Ruddster might end up having a quiet word with them.

351kw is quite a jump for FPV, if it were so they would most likely sit on that figure for a decade.

It could be 400kw and there's no way FPV will advertise it at that, i wouldnt expect advertised numbers to be too much up from where thay are now...
Leaves plenty of room to move into the future to keep the badge zealots happy...

I don't think anyone would have an issue with this as long as the 'on-road' performance lived up to expectations.

When was the last time an equivalent FPV was faster than HSV out of the box? The current GT's a fair way off the pace:

Wheels Performance Times

absolutely. both fpv and hsv have had their top v8 cars put back to back on dyno's at various stages and the ford has rarely been shown up.

also this article is exactly the sort of thing the new ford boss had a crack at recently. the constant dangling of the carrot by holden.

how often in the real world do you drive with you foot nailed to the carpet for 400m? these numbers are for bragging rights in the pub only.

also regarding the quoted times, you'll notice once up and rolling the gt is more than a match for the holden. the boss is very difficult to launch.

The GT isnt that far off. A NZ car mag done a 13.4 with one. They pull higher ET after the qaurter compared to HSVs, have equivalent rolling acceleration and RWKW are usually in th GTs favour. Track times are never going to be brilliant with the heavy front it is a street car afterall.

I'm not saying it's wrong or right, but 'bragging rights' are what sell cars. If you want to put bums in seats you've got to be the latest and greatest, anything else is an excuse. On what was the GT legend formulated?

I think it would be nice to lose the KW rating on the FPV's. Maybe then the buying public wont be readily able to compare them on propaganda value alone....mind you i dont believe people actually buy cars because when the badge says.

I see your point, but in 2009 all we've got are numbers.

I'm sure everyone would feel better about putting down their $70k knowing their purchase more than matches the direct competition (in any measure you care to mention).

Wheels quoted a source as saying they are sick of the 315 this and 317 that numbers are want to make a significant jump to move the game forward.

Dallas, the tooling for a new bumper is over 500K... 2 new bumpers means over a $mil on bumpers alone.
The new series bodykit, its more "square" than the current kit.
